"The more successful the villain, the more successful the movie. 70% of the acting work I've done here has been British Raj, arrogant officers. Or, you know, evil drug dealers from America. Or Russian scientist. It's something. You get the point?
It's like the inverse of Hollywood. For years and years, Hollywood made the other people villains. And Americans were like the heroes.
Well, as you might expect, Indians want to be heroes in their own movies. And the white guy, For some good colonial reasons -- let's put it that way -- is viewed sometimes as the evil guy. And I guess I had that look
Hi, my name is Zachary coffin and I am an actor.
I grew up in San Francisco and then I moved to New York and then to L.A. Then I did a lot of traveling. I worked in about 30 countries as a consultant -- and not as an actor -- before I ended up in India.
I had been coming and going to India for about 10 years before moving here.
I arrived here on December 6th, 2010. Mumbai is an amazing city. It's the second densest city in the world. And it's mostly migrants.
75% of the people who live here have come from somewhere else. And so you have this enormous energy of people who want to do something. They've got dreams.
And they're living in the jungle. Even though there's concrete and all that, it's a city, but it's really a thousand villages. It's all squished together.
On a daily, I will be cycling through rich neighborhoods, slum neighborhood. Water and highway. And developed areas. And dirt roads. And all of that. I just like that variety. And I think cycling gives me the feel of that.
A day in the life in India is not like any other day. India is so full of uncertainty. And then I'm an actor. And being in the entertainment industry is also full of uncertainty. So it's kind of like exponential levels of uncertainty. It's nerve- wracking and exhilarating and stressful, but something in me enjoys it." ...
