I'm debating if getting 32gb RAM is worth it for light, mostly 2D (lower thirds, titles) and some 2D animated character rigging in AE, or if th 16gb is enough. Coming from Windows where 32 is the absoulte minimum so its all kind of confusing haha

Why is it that in order to get the MBP 14 you have to edit/code etc - I bought this machine because I do lots of reading and the pro motion AMAZING screen is beautiful. Not to mention superior sound quality and loads of ports.....The macbook air is an incredible machine in its own right, but this machine is a beast and i love it!

The MBP14 is the best Laptop i ever had...its incredible to work with this maschine...i'm not interesting in graphic work but iam developer and for my work its great to use this devise

Here's the deal: M1 Air base model for under $800 is hard to beat. But if you want more memory than 8GB, more storage than 256GB, a larger and much better display with ProMotion, more ports and card reader, more horsepower, at the expense of some battery life, then M1 Pro 14" base model is excellent, although it costs more. With M2 Air now out, if you get the sweet spot specs 512GB/16GB, it becomes about $200 or so difference from the M1 Pro 14" base model. You get ALOT more for that extra money though. Unless you absolutely need the lighter weight and slimmer design, M1 Pro 14" base model is one of the best all-arounders right now.

I use external monitor for intensive work with 14 inch on desk and carry it for mobile work. If I need a lot more power, I go back to PC. There's no point getting 16 inch for me.

Export time in AE is irrelevant. What's important is realtime preview. Care to test?

Rarely mentioned is the MBP14 makes a great option for folks (like me) that want a single machine that is powerful enough to use as a desktop and portable enough to use on the go. I've loved mine. Nice to have a single machine rather than a desktop (Mini or Studio) and a laptop (MBA) as I did in the past.

I had a 15 MBP (2012), but I decided to get the 14. I love the size. I cary it everywhere without complain. My mom has the 16 and she tries to avoid carrying it

for me the Pro 14 is the perfect laptop. Amazing battery life, good performance, enough RAM and SSD and perfect Screen size 👍🏽

Got the m1 pro last month on sale for $1750 its so nice highly recommend

I know the air is all I need, but that’s this year and the next couple. I got 8 productive years out of my 2008 MacBook, and was still useful after that. I want my investment to last. Considering the base 14” is only $300 more than the similarly configured Air with 512gb/16 ram.. you gotta go 14” to figure proof for the next decade, unless the work demand turns quite serious after 5ish years.
