what is there to like?? Macaques in particular are pests, devastate cities and crops and carry disease. More babies means more adults some day, which parts of the world don't need.

Tge mother may not be able to punish a higher ranking no matter the age but she definitely could've grabbed her baby and went off. Stopping the torment. Each Alpha is different but good ones do not allow their young to bully the troop. It shows she controls all and will reprimand her young and keep them in line. The ones who rule by fear and intimidation allow this behavior but usually don't stay on top for long it's the smarter political ones who's families stay royalty for generations.

This is not necessarily correct , there may be moments of correction and weaning in there mistaken for abuse. Please remember they are monkeys

Back in the day I got bullied a couple times in school, at one point I got fed up and just snapped...I took the first punch and went in a fight, it was a stalemate but after that I never got bullied again, lesson learned..you gotta stand up for yourself and others if they are weaker then you, then the abusers gets what he deserved and knows it will come to him again.
