And he was a "brains" of the Barker-Karpis Gang. Karpis and his crew made the last train robbery in the U.S., a crime that echoed the times of the "Old West," at Garrettsville, Ohio in November 1935, scoring a bunch of cash and making daring escape by using a airplane 🛩️ ! Creepy Karpis was a first person in the world who used airplane to escape from the crime scene! So in that way he was ahead of his time!✌️

I have to stop you in your tracks as far as the FBI is concerned back then. Dillinger, Bonnie & Clyde, the Barkers, Babyface Nelson among others made fools of the FBI who are we kidding. If it was not for the help of regular American Citizens the FBI couldn't catch any of the bank robbers on their own back then. You are making them seem like they were this night and Shining Armor who swooped in and got the bad guys; that's crap and you know it. They weren't very good at detecting, stop playing.

I was unaware that Karpis lived as long as he did, I was under the impression that he died at alcatraz. He was a close friend of my great aunt, Belle Born. He allegedly lived with her for a while. She was compelled to testify against him and the Barkers, on a grand jury regarding the kidnapping of William Hamm. She died in the mid '60s, before I was born, but my oldest siblings had stories to tell about her. She had interesting friends, like Karpis, and John Dillinger. She divorced her husband in the early '30s, and never had a job, but always had money, at a time when most people had very little. She was rumored to be a bootlegger.
