How to Disable Start Stop

Battery!! Stop start batteries are more expensive and let's face it if you use it ten time more on a journey it might just last ten times less altimately.

The cost of ,starter motor and AGM batteries is not worth the inconvenience of starting and stopping. Hey if your a snail coach greeny, go for it , me I'm a 73 year old petrol head, enjoying my stage 2 gti golf, that does not want stop and fart driving.

Don't Do this! If you want to disable auto start/stop on your F150 (works on 2021-2023 models for sure, don't know about older models or the upcoming 2024 refresh, but I'm pretty sure its the same or similar.) Go into your infotainment system. Bring up Features. Bring up towing. Choose select default trailer. That's it. That's all you have to do. Don't buy any devices. Don't jumper the button. Don't disconnect the BMS from the negative lead on the battery. The truck will think a trailer is connected, but it won't cut off your backup camera, or give you any warning messages or anything like that. Plus you don't run any risk of voiding your warranty, or shorting your circuitry with some cheap Chinese "auto start eliminator," or by plugging in some trailer circuit test kit that isn't designed to be left in as you drive the truck every day leaving it exposed to the elements.

Auto start stop , think it is bad idea when you on the hills time between brake paddle and accelerate engine not on yet and your car going back ward ,it feel scary

Now you get to replace two batteries….surprise, $372 for the auxiliary battery at the dealers..what a ripoff

You acctualy don't save fuel with start/stop but burn it even more because every start takes more fuel than simple ideling

I don’t know about Chrysler but with ford if you disconnect that it also disables the battery monitoring system

Recently purchased 2019 Ford Fusion w/this feature. At first, I thought something was wrong with my car. Now I know what was going on. I also noticed that gas consumption is higher than w/my 2008 Ford Taurus (which just recently turned over 100,000 miles). Not a fan of the feature. 🙄

I have the 2017 Pacifica and the ESS has failed three times and cost the aux battery twice and the main once. Does this procedure stop the issue of battery drain? I always disable the ESS (have for 6 yers) because it always drove me crazy, but I'm reading that turning it off still doesn't stop the battery drain issue so just wondering if this method will work. Thanks.

This feauture is useful for all non natural drivers, who cant get their vehicle into their body system, come on guys your car should be like your heart , mindless guys dont even shut off wipers on full speed after the rain stopped immensly spoiling the wiper blades

I have the GLA 2016, mine start turn off completely at traffic lights and I have to the gear into drive, and I get the message “ don’t switch gear. “

It is annoying every time I pull in the garage it shuts off prematurely. It’s an issue.

They don't drive around with the hood open. If you open the hood and start the car and then go out and close the hood it puts it in mechanic mode which disables the auto start/stop while it is running.

Found it on my 2017 Ford Ranger truck. Plug was identical and easy to do. The only difference was the light displayed on the panel was the check engine light instead of the auto-start amber light. The annual inspection in Texas will not pass with a check engine light, however I will only need to plug it back in when the inspection is due. Good job my friend!

On my ford Kuga the press of a button disables the start /stop function. I suggest you disable it, I no longer do long runs the result, the engine cut out and a £200 + bill followed

the best solution to this and other "features" forced on us is to refuse to buy the car when new until the dealer removes it.

Cant do an a 2022 Citroen C3 Aircross no such connector

I went on test rides before I bought my first SUV at the time this was a new feature. My first thought on the test ride when I heard it shut the engine down was this. This is stupid as how much wear and tear does in do to a car so I asked the salesmen and he goes don’t worry the car has a higher rated battery and starter. I looked at him and said. I have never heard of such a crazy thing in all my years of driving the last thing I.want is for my car to shut off all day. I like a dependable vehicle over some gimmick to maybe save fuel. Needless to say I crossed off all SUV’s or cars with this stupid feature. So I bought what I have had good luck with another Honda.

I got a cable thing that hooks to hood latch connector for $14 from Amazon that fools the system with the hood latched, works great on my 2019 Chevy Equinox 2.0 turbo.
