It's unfortunate that in the state of NJ, everything is illegal. It's very difficult to obtain this type of weapon for home defense or any for that matter. The only concern with using this type of gun for home defense is that the intruder will more than likely be carrying a real firearm that he obtain illegally no less.

You lose pressure after firing so it affects the following shot. Rapid fire with these is not a good idea. If you wait a bit after firing, the pressure will build a bit giving you a better following shot.

I live in Australia. We don't need firearms for home protection or self-defence because we have sensible gun laws.
You should try it....

you have to wait like 10 seconds between each shot or you lose power. due to physics and such. sadly even 3 or 5 seconds is gonna work if you shoot more than 3 shots, to much **** and not enough ******* so the thing isn't gonna be able to ******

For self defence no i test it modded 24 joules with stainless steel pin valve and extension barrel and i expected more, they guy i shot 3 times with steel balls 12.5mm just he left nothing more nothing less, he go in his car and he drive like nothing happened 😮

They also make a cool double barrel shotgun and its cool. These things can seriously mess a person up, so keep that in mind for last ditch self defense. Its better than a sharp stick.

I have the same thing at home. I wanted to know how much energy the metal balls were putting out but you only measured the rubber balls. Also, next time try 50 cal solid metal balls without the sabot and measure the energy.

Back in the day, American fighter planes used .50 caliber ammunition in their machine guns and the result was devastating to enemy planes. Using a .50 caliber gun for home defense is insane, that is unless you do not care about collateral damage as bullets go through your walls into the houses of neighbors as far as a block away.

I need it

For those who are not comfortable with a (powder-propelled) firearm this is a great choice. Within 10-15 feet it will deal a good hurtin'. But it's also big and just the sight of it might make a would be attacker think twice. The barrel looks like the barrel of a (powder) gun.

I got the same Umarex .50 and the main reason for the plastic surface of devestator rounds is to protect the barrel. Like it says in the website i ordered it: "The usage of the steel balls will damage your device. If you want to get more penetration with your self defense gun buy the smaller cal option, there are automatic choises with 30 rounds capasity like .25 that are actually fatal. If you want to pick a self defense C02- weapon, there`s a "sawed off shotgun" wersion out there (manuafactured that way) and the steel balls will reck it.
