For an "average" person ( like most of us who couldn't harm anyone except in self defense) has to go to these lengths- it does case PTSD and mental trauma,because the incident in imprinted in your mind,like a movie that doesn't stop playing,but continually loops...because I have childhood physical abuse situations fro age 3 to 6 that STILL do this.

How is Debra not also guilty of coercive control? Not that I'm defending John at all, but I've watched Laura Richards talk about coercive control and it aligns just as much with Debra's behavior as it does John's. In the podcast, she openly admits that she was the one controlling all the finances, so she would cut him off whenever she felt like it, and she was controlling his transportation and eventually his living situation. I read some of her memoir and there's a part where she literally takes pride in the fact that John was possibly suicidal because of her, bragging, "That means I through to him!" And when he calls her out for being noticeably less affectionate, she tells him, "it's all in your head" even though it was true. How is that not gaslighting? She also literally says she was going out of her way to destroy his ego and confidence. Isn't that mainly the goal of coercive control? John was a terrible person and obviously no victim, but I don't understand why her behavior isn't also put on blast.

I have no sympathy for Deborah she was not being coercively controlled by him she was being selfish she was so desperate for male companionship that she was willing to tern a blind eye and deaf ear to the warning signs and her kid’s warning her. Let’s be realistic here when John was in the hospital she had the PI report and the things John printed out where woman were describing their experiences with him. She could no longer deny everything the kids were saying about her was true and worse but yet she still stayed with him she hired a lawyer to try and prove to her kids that he was safe to be around because she still wanted to have a pretend happy family with him and her kids .
