Obvious issues are the lack of thermoplasticity (so conventional plastics' manufacturing equipment and applications such as injection molding, thermoforming and extrusion can be used) and a programmability for the material's molecular weight and limited water resistance, which are all necessary to be a feasible substitute to conventional plastics. All these problems have been solved by Timeplast.
