Hdd is more durable, because of its technology. It can withstand way more overwrite/move/delete cycles, as per the SSD it has a way smaller durability life, also you're not sure how many broken sectors do you get when getting it.
Hdd is prone to damage if you drop it, more than the SSD, so it breaks more easily.
SSD is faster, lighter and can save you time. Serves the same purpose, for as long as it's sectors are not wearied down or damaged.
Hdd is durable, cheaper and can be used for a longer period of time, if you don't hit it / drop it.
Make your decision based on what fits your needs. There is not a right it wrong decision.
Hdd has longer lifespan because it is magnetic platter inside not a NANDGATE chip that dies easily
ОтветитьAlso data on an HDD will last a lot longer than on an SSD, ie if you plug in your HDD and SSD in 5 years, you will most likely find the data in proper condition on an HDD but SSD no promises
Ответитьyeah, but you probably could recover on External HDD over External SSD if something would to happen !
ОтветитьCan you use an internal SSD with external hard drive ?
ОтветитьBro which one is best for gaming on PS3 SSD or HDD
ОтветитьI got a 3tb ssd Hewitt packard to use as external from a liquidator store for $5. It is brand new.
ОтветитьWhich is best to store movies on it?
ОтветитьWhat about brands? What are the most reliable brands? And what is THE most reliable brand? Thanks
ОтветитьWhat about in case of durability and machine failure which one of them will be easy to recover in case of failure?
Ответитьwhat about reliability?
ОтветитьWhat about for gaming?
ОтветитьIs the toshiba canvio basics 2tb good/durable
ОтветитьFor storing phones from your iPhone would you use the SSD or HHD?
Ответитьsuper helpful! Thank you
ОтветитьThx. U made my day. I just want to store movies & junk. So ssd really dosen't matter to me. 😂 that was the confusion i had. Weather pay large prize or get hdd.
But how about the quality ? Will it get corrupted faster ? 😝
Were you even born, when they came out with these books for newbees, called 'computers 4 dummies' & then came 'internet 4 dummies?' Well all i'm trying to find, is which one is EASIEST, 4 dummies (HDD or SSD)! I just want to copy EVERY file i have on my current pc & store them on an external drive, incase my pc craps out & i'll need to transfer all my data to a new one! That means, my music, pix, videos (a few) & my docus. I might want to update once a month, for any new stuff or add-ons to current docs; but i am NOT a pc geek, or wiz or what have you. So I want to just plug something in and have a video tell me every step i need to take along the way? Can anybody do that?!
ОтветитьTHE EASY WAY IS READ SPEED. SP Silicon Power( External Hard Drive . ) ONLY 85 MB/s .////
Samsung T7 Portable SSD /Portable SSD 1.050 MB/s///////////SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s
Never go with HDD at all. You drop it then it is gone forever. I had a External HDD and accidentally drop it from mid point from my ankle and knee. Now it can't read at all and It might be damage forever. Taking it to a data recovery center cost 1k
ОтветитьAuthor ano po mas better sa 2 hdd or sdd for gaming? salamat
sana mapansin
Loved the video. Short and concise
ОтветитьIn short
SSD - Sports Car
Fast, Expensive but carries limited passengers.
HDD - Bus
Slow, Cheaper but carries a lot of passengers.
Which one last longer? I hears HDD.
ОтветитьAny advice or recommendations for gaming storage on a PS5 so my kids can store their games?
ОтветитьGreat video and very good advice. I recently started using SSDs and have been blown away by the extra speed in transferring files.
ОтветитьThanks man! Great explanation.
Ответитьif you are taking files on and off al the time go ssd, simply because it uses less power and is quite durable
if you want to backup long termish, use hdd, they are really reliable especially if used only occasionally, and also backup to the cloud.... 1 backup is not enough...and key stuff backup to high quality dvd....yes even in 2023, backup ultra important stuff to your hdd , to the cloud, and to high quality dvd....when everything else fails...i guarantee the dvd-r will be fine.
but if you are using a laptop and removing stuff and putting stuff on disk all the time....dont use hdd, as it uses a lot more power and will drain battery
The other important thing is HDDs are more reliable, they have been used for decades.
While SSDs are new, so it's not yet clear how long they can hold the data without issues.
Thanks for the simple comparison for us newbies.
ОтветитьI'm thinking between hdd and ssd to use as a backup drive only for photos and videos and I only use phone and iPad Pro . I've heard hdd doesn't work with phone and iPad due to low power connectivity .so do u think samsung t7 shield 2tb would be a good buy for longterm storage?
ОтветитьHDD vs SSD
HDD pros
-High Storage
-Cheap
HDD cons
-Very expensive to repair (need to bring it to the data recovery expert)
-Fragile
-having a problem when you long time not using
SSD pros
-Fast Read/Write Speed
-Compact size
-Not Fragile
-No problem even long time you dont used it
SSD cons
-Expensive
-low storage
-short r/w lifespan
For Daily Used Buy HDD
For Back-up buy SSD
I rather buy SSD for important files than HDD..
Since The HDD is very fragile inside once you accidentally drop it its 50/50 dead even its brand new. And HDD is very expensive to repair you need to bring it to the expert..
And if you are not using it for a long time the HDD will malfunction..
Rather have less read/write life span and less storage than Having fragile HDD that cannot be repaired most of the time buy user..
Use an SSD for files being used daily, use an HDD for files your not using as often, as simple as that.
ОтветитьI do a lot of video editing projects on my Lenovo Y50 gaming computer and have a Western Digital My Book 8 TB External Hard drive. With SSD drives getting cheaper, you can buy a 8 TB Samsung SSD for $650 and a 2.5 USB 3.1 external Hard drive enclosure. The speeds are very fast to access your files. I'll keep a non SSD external hard drives for backups and my main files on the external SSD.
ОтветитьDoes the SSD have an enclosure too? Or does it not contain an enclosure?
ОтветитьThanks man, i got to choose because of you ❤
ОтветитьFor long lasting important files I would recommend Hard disk than SSD. Because SSDs only have NAND Gate technology that will wear off in different climates and less read and write cycles due to current flowing in chip could weaken the circuit track. In hard disk files will be saved in magnetic platter that will not lose and is easy to recover than SSD. SSD is best in performance and the other plus point of SSD is having no magnetic platter from work you can wiggle, but not best on reliability and durability.
ОтветитьVery helpful. Can you point me in the right direction hardware wise to enable me to download 128gb of data (photos and videos mostly) directly off two iPhones? I haven’t been able to sync them with my iMac so I‘m hoping doing it directly from the phones to external storage will work. I’m just unsure whether I need to use USB, SSD or something else? I want something portable and had already settled on the SanDisk you show in this video if that would work. Do I just need to get a lightening adapter? Hope you can help. Thanks, Amanda.
ОтветитьAmazing vid, quick info, good info. Big thanks man
Ответитьyou didnt touch much on durability. You see the value of the storage is to have the files secured. I have 10 external HDD's unfortunately, about half of them are unusable because of mechanical failure.. I am hoping that SDD wont have that problem so I'm considering to buy one..
Ответитьmy real experience ssd life span 2 years exactly, ssd issue hidden when reach limited tbw problem and undetected or damaged. hdd better than ssd
ОтветитьI would do SSD. Due to HDD, motors tend to fail, moving parts, cpu boards and are tuff to recover. Idk? Wht iexperianced..✌️
ОтветитьCan you use a external SSD on a laptop or computer that has an internal HDD drive?
Ответитьoh look at this. mayat manong daytoy channel mo. subscribed :)
ОтветитьCheap is expensive 😜
ОтветитьRespected friend
Can I use 1TB USB 3 pendrive as a SSD hard drive
Thank you I have limited computer knowledge
I have a Toshiba external hard drive where I would drag and drop my photos. Would it be safe to transfer these photos to that small SSD Sandisk?
The new ssd can I use between a DELL computer and a MacBook or iPad ?
Thanks for cleaning the confusion. Please tell me which drive data is easily recoverable if face shock or damage ?
ОтветитьThank you so much. It's very helpful
ОтветитьThank you
