You should try Resident Evil Deadly Silence! You'll be surprised with how interesting it is! But first maybe you'll have to do a bit of research to know what it is if u don't know already of course!

When you said "as a 19 year old" I had to stop and realize that there are people who make content who were born way after WASD was the standard for PC movement.

Would love to see you make a video about Clock Tower (1995) or even the entire Clock Tower series someday ;)

Thank you for this video.

I do appreciate seeing younger adults taking a pretty fair look at some older games, especially as getting them to look & sound their best, even with GOG, can be a chore before you even begin. It sometimes takes dedication & enthusiasm just to get things running the way it authentically "used to" or at all.

Often, even though they're classics it can be hard to recommend them, especially blind. I get that the craft has come a long way but stuff like the amount of cruel soft locks can be fairly unforgivable even by 1990s standards. They relied too much on the saving grace of once you know what to do the games are only like an hour long.

I also noticed, it really was the wild west with UI elements & controls. Seeing your problems with both really made me consider how much the culture just kind of wordlessly coalesced around some design & control elements that I'd grown to take for granted & how when they're missing it feels off.

If you ever consider the sequels, to get a feel for the tone, I'm reminded of artwork made for a 2009 Let's Play, where the first game is portrayed by a stressed out Emily Hartwood creeping through a poorly lit mansion corridor with a unsteady but bloody saber while monstrous hands creep out of the dark from around the corner-
But where the second game is portrayed by a drunk out of his mind, crazed & manic Edward Carnby screaming while downing a liquor bottle wearing a fur lined Santa Claus outfit while jump kicking a pirate ship's chief cook in the jaw.

This game was hard to play even when it was first released. They were trying something new, which was groundbreaking at the time and it took until RE1 for someone to get it right.
This was an amazing achievement for the time, considering they had nothing else to go on. Unfortunately, that means the controls and gameplay were very unforgiving, tough and tedious.

Y’know what would be amazing? Once tactile VR gear to do stuff with your sense of touch becomes more of a thing, Imagine a VR game with sequences where you’re walking around in the pitch black near-silence and can feel something grasping at you and brushing past you the longer you just stand around. VR horror with a sense of touch has so much potential!

Honestly, horror that messes with head in some way is something that needs to be more of a thing

Meanwhile, this game just messes with your emotions with clunk and absurd amounts of deaths

this might be the first 3D survival horror but it is not the first survival horror, that honor goes to
SWEET HOME for the Famicom.
When the creator of resident evil made the game, he actually started off making a 3d remake of Sweet Home, if you look at the door opening animation you can totally see it.

An object show is a type of animated competition that has gained popularity in recent years, with BFDI (Battle For Dream Island) being one of the most well-known examples. These shows feature inanimate objects or anthropomorphic objects, such as talking animals or robots, as contestants. The objects are often given unique personalities and are voiced by actors, making the show entertaining and engaging for viewers. Throughout the show, the objects compete in challenges or games to win prizes or avoid elimination, with each challenge highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the objects. Object shows are known for their creative concept and humorous execution, making them a favorite among fans of animated shows and internet culture.

This is the vid I had to go to to figure out some of this stuff. All that stuff about sacrificial daggers and picking the right one to send the black goat god back to his own dimension after reading the cthulhu passage? Pah, quit fiddling with backtracking for books and daggers. Throw your lantern at the tree. wtf?

Imma thinking if they implemented a more refined control system, checkpoints, and puzzle assistance, this would make a great Remastered version, graphic style doesn't need to change but I'd be keen to play a refined version of this for Nostolgia purposes, would make a nice collection along side the new Alone in the Dark game

As an 18-year old (as of leaving this comment) I do understand that Alone in the Dark is rather clunky nowadays, but it's still one of my all-time favourite games and my first playthrough was truly something special
If it wasn't for this game, I don't think I would have ever given the horror genre a chance

Congrats on making your way through this game! I grew up with the N64 so I'm kind of used to old games but I'd probably become frustrated and quit.
