Manipulative people seek out positions of power and vulnerable victims and religious leadership offers both. If we wanna speak straight facts, Christianity is a lie, and not a well-crafted one either. Any thorough reading of the text will reveal the inconsistencies and injustices within, and I would say that a lot of the bad politics, bad social structures, and bad cultural practices we see in America today can be traced back to Christianity, particularly Paul’s epistles (some of which are known forgeries!). I’d say it’s no accident that those who should have the greatest understanding of Scripture and the greatest influence in the church tend to be some of the worst abusers conceivable. I don’t seek to convert or conform anyone to any way of thinking, but truth is truth, and i do wish people cared more about the truth and less about a good story. Cared more about thinking for themselves, than being free from the accountability of knowledge. I would double down and say anyone thinking for themselves, who ain’t slow, can see that the Bible is bullshit, and while there are several useful axioms in it, it is not some divinely inspired perfect book from the One True God. It’s a just a story written by some ancient desert folk trying to influence the people of their time. Stories like the ones in this video is why it is gravely important for us to collectively leave these false gods in the ancient past where they belong.

The black left absolutely needs to talk about the church. Look - I’m not saying pre-colonial societies were good or ideal, but we have to realize that Christianity in black America began with forced conversion. We live downstream of that

here in Brazil every week some pastor (almost always white) gets caught saying or doing something absolutely heinous. off the top of my head some pastor nade a bunch of sermons talking about kissing his little girl on the lips. and worse. my family is catholic but I'm an atheist because i can't stand the racism i experienced growing up in the church.
