Google Pixel 7 Pro - Photographer's Review (POV + LR pixel peeping)

Very informative! I just recently bought 7 pro so I can easily photograph my figures and I'm gutted because its camera hates pink color and it's always washed out :( I played with options but nothing helps

What rubbish are talking about. Why does the phone shoot 12MB and you cannot download them ? I do not need compressed downloads. 12MB to 3MB no thanks.

You should switch to astrophotography mode for good image of moon I think ( or set exposure to max in nighttime quick settings ) .From what I understand the Pixel takes multiple exposures over 4 minutes and autostacks those pictures into the "end result " .Makes me wonder if you can still edit the raw files (used for the autostack) in LR or in a dedicated stacking program . I agree though : would be better if they opened up the camera app completely so you can manually set ISO and shutterspeed

great video. do you have a video that's like simple pro 7 trips to take great photos on vacation? I'm going to Bali, Singapore, seoul and tokyo in a month with my wife and baby and I just bought this 7Pro phone new to take good photos and videos of our trip, I was going to get an s23ultra but I had the 21 ultra and never used all those advanced features.

I think an amazing AI feature for Pixels would be to analyze the scene and recommend a composition or even an angle. While quality of mobile photos is already amazing in most conditions, I feel like some assistance about the photo content itself would be a next step.

I would like to see how the portrait video is doing the job, just to see if it's possible to shoot professional looking video when interviewing someone. Do you happen to plan om making this?

why is the selfie camera so awfully out of focus?

Unless one prints these out at 8x10 or greater so that one can see the true quality of the capture, this is all pointless. Viewing images only on a PC screen gives one a false impression of image quality and does not take into account if the person viewing is using a calibrated workflow to 'see' the images as you see them or even what they are viewing them on. I have been a freelance photographer since the 70s and even though most work is now shot digitally (I do still shoot film, both 35mm and medium format), the only real test of image quality is when the image is printed up at the final display size. If one is only shooting images to be viewed on screen, one is not a photographer, but a happy-snapper. Oh, and by the way, I also have the Pixel 7 Pro, and yes, it is a damn tool.

Like the one thing that I don't like about phone cameras what is juit's about phone cameras where it's just the way that they weigh the interpret and light push out the image and we can remember every screen is different right and it's like each phone has a different software or a different ai upscaling and the only problem is there it might look great from the whole pitch up when you zoom in certain features don't work you know It's one of them wonder if you want certain thing you you actually have to like no your no camera and no photography in a way because like some people just might take a whole bunch and on bikes always take all the bunch of pictures just using the original camera or if I went as human issues the zoom in but I didn't realise that certainly come with a unique tutor for the microwave it's right if you want to get a really upclose but are you quite argued after you have the perfect lion and the Van would even get as detailed as you possibly want to get it right and even then we still got up scale it to put it in make it of the profile under the extra hour Yeah extra details you know any issues like there's so many things that you've got a deal with photography I thought the simple was taken a picture but it's not like so many things and since I'm honest it's what I know what I need to do but I draw so I know how it works but in doing photography is a completely different ballpark because we've all been on your creative delight in yourself right we photography the light in the air but you go work with the lion because you can't move but you can't change it that yeah you can alter it in afterwards Technically you literally can't otherwise stuck in a way where it's like you've got to get the right line White exposure and because it's multiple phones right they don't have like high enough senses to capture demo of lady you actually need all Yeah that's the thing that even reason why they're having flashes well the same thing we've let old camera that I'd like a fruity Fuji film camera right those ones are still used to have like you know the old way of doing things and the flush now you don't need that quiz to have enough senses to actually capture the man yeah censors to actually capture the mouth letters need obviously it's not worth another display all like more than our eyes which is understandable but it's did you understand the ball but it's enough to be that yeah that's pretty cool One day will get there

Great reviuw! One detail, you mentioned the 30x digital zoom as eq to 230 mm, must be the 10x zoom?

I am very disappointed that it applies this ugly hdr and sharpening over every pic. And this can't even be disabled!! It looks good for 2 seconds and then it gets ruined by postprocessing. Would have been nice if any reviewer had been mention this.

Good video and I just got this phone thinking it might be able to take a good picture of the moon.Can it be done?

Loved your video and how you put time in those tests. I was especially surprised with some of the neat shots. Some direct shots look so artsy which gives the Pixel a unique flavor to their cameras. Pixel 7 pro looks great and I've heard about the improvements especially over the buggy Pixel 6 pro but I will still wait for the 8 pro. Fortunately, I'm one of the rear few who has never experienced any bug in my 6 Pro. The cameras are great for my usage and I don't really care about the slightly "slower" Fingerprint reader. From what I can see the cameras in the 7 Pro are a little more refined than the 6 Pro but not by so much especially for how I use it. I guess phone cameras are generally so good these days that one doesn't really need to upgrade their phones every year. I would really like it if they give a fully Manual mode though. Imagine manual mode like the xperia phones with the neat Pixel features and computational photography. That would be a dream phone camera.

Is the lens switching jerky in the phone camera (not insta or snap)? My biggest grievance with the 6pro is how terrible the lens switch is when recording and zooming in.

I am sorry but the default (or whatever settings that were dialed in) image look is very artificial and looks nothing like more natural looking shots of some of the competitors. The images are too flat even for an overcast day. There is no tonal variation and the whole image looks like a bad HDR albeit toned down a couple of notches.

The night time photos are the best on Google phones but daylight photos are the worst on any flagship phone. They look dark and gloomy even if taken in bright daylight

Hi sir, for social media apps, does it still use the "screenshot" or the camera itself already?

I feel like an algorithm was run that determined enough people who want an optical 2X will bite the bullet and go with a P7P over a P7, thus improving profitability. It worked on me, but I'm easy. I'm trying to figure out whether I should move my wife from her 4XL (which does have a 2X optical) to a P7 or a P7 Pro. She's not as pure a candidate, and hates to spend money, but she does love a good camera... (BTW - thanks for a thorough and thoroughly outstanding review)

greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!! This brand "Google mobiles" unfortunately doesn´t exist here !! Can you believe that?? I own a S22 ULTRA since February 2022 and I definitely will change to this PRO 7 (I will get one next year when I travel to Florida). Really impressive the cameras and process results also I use LUMIX G7 with a variety of cool lenses, seems these mobiles are most the same level for daily photos, for Night photos dude !! Mirroless cameras are guiding the race I think !

I want to create a composition between a structure and the full moon, playing with the shadows in the dark.
