I absolutely love this movie. It's one of the greatest movies ever made. But I wonder how much did they make Robert the Bruce dirty by showing him as a spineless coward? From the stories I've read he was actually a very courageous man who had an integral part in Scotland's independence wars.

Ich mag den Film. Er schützt die persönliche Freiheit und erzählt von Liebe, Vertrauen und das Einstehen von wichtigen Werten, auch in Bezug auf Mann und Frau.
Das Schwert wird nicht zum Hass sondern aus Liebe geführt und zum Schutz von Personen und Werten, die gehalten werden müssen, auch wenn man in der Unterzahl ist.

A garbage movie filled with lies and half truths. It is at best 15 percent accurate. At worst it slanders a great Plantagenet king. It's unbelievable how much people believe the garbage from Hollywood.

Incredible , after almost 30 years that freaking sceene when he shouts FREEDOM still makes me cry a damn river , I miss movies like this , now I have no choice but to watch 90's movies over and over.

My grandma is called Agnus Morag Speed Mackay (not a name which summons a picture of a beauty lol😂) but she is a true proud Scottish Highland woman and the Celts are a special people, they were basically the native Indians of the British Isles.

Scots and Irish have always been real warriors just like the Zulu’s, Aztecs, Samoans, Spartans etc. they fought off legions of Romans often outnumbered with little to no clothes, a sword and maybe a shield whilst their enemy was in armour. Even the Roman legions praised them as absolute savage fighters who believed their soul never died but passed on to the next.

My gran is 96 now and I went to see it with her when it came out in 95’, she was so proud but said “Scots were brutal warring clans (tribes) also and weren’t saints as painted out to be in the movie.” However, I think this film can summon pride in any human. Basically standing up for what is right.
