Hi Natalie great information thank you! Can you do a video on birth control and the side effects when taken for so long? I’m 51 and I’ve been taking contraceptives for more than 20 years. And have use all types of birth control from shots, parches and currently on the pill. It has been affecting my hormones and want to get off but also concerned of the possibility of getting pregnant. Thanks!

What happens is, they exist as the exact same eggs that developed in your Mothers Womb that contained you, right next to her own eggs. Just THAT much older than when you were -7months old… simply slightly more oxidized each year, with corresponding *fidelity loss.

fidelity = similarity to the exact DNA sequence coding your currently functional genes

My doctor said there is no reason to test my AMH. She said she is not concerned with my ovarian reserve because I'm getting pregnant. But based on this video, it sounds like I should get tested anyway. I'm over 35 and have reoccurring miscarriages.

Is it smart to have this checked even if you're single and in your 30s?

I just turned 30. Do I have to be too concerned? My eggs don’t instantly go bad at 30 😭 I’ve lived a healthy life and am currently in good health.

I have a question: how does very long term taking of contraceptive pill affect fertility in older age?
I've been on pill for 17 years (I'm 41 and I don'thave children). I've stopped taking the pill about 6 months ago but ever since my periods are very irregular and far from looking normal. Are there any chances of becoming a mom regarding my age and hormonal imbalance pills have caused or I should just forget about it. I will appreciate any response ❤ Thank you

If someone is pregnant or nursing with no periods for 20 years, why doesn't menopause get delayed by years?

Further, in bad substance discussions, does adderall have effects on fertility?

Is it really 35 or was that just a roundup age? I heard it drops steadily around 30 but declines significantly closer to 40.

How do you go about getting a fertility doctor? Is it something that you have to be referred to by your OBGYN? What if your OB doesn't think you need a fertility doctor because 'you've been pregnant before" even though you have PCOS and have had miscarriages?

Very informative but also very heart wrenching. I think what I can gleen from this video is that if you are 40 (as I am) or over you should just give up and wait for menopause. Unless you have lots of lovely money that you can potentially waste on treatment by coming to the clinic ASAP. But even then if fertilly treatment actually works - your child is prob going to be deformed because your eggs are of such bad quality! 😒

This was so informative and also encouraging! I had 2 kids in my 20s and got pregnant very quickly. Our 2nd child had a severe syndrome and it took 8 years to see if I was a carrier. I have felt robbed of those 8 years of fertility and now I am 36 and facing the AMA term 😬 and nervous about my own fertility. Thanks for clarifying so much!

Dr. Crawford, thank you for this very informative video. I am 32 and today I was told by my Dr that my AMH is below average. This was very scary information and I left the doctors office feeling very concern, afraid and frankly broken. Although, he tried to explain what this meant for my fertility he definitely did not explain this like you. Watching this video made me feel hopeful and gave me a little peace of mind.

No one teaches us the vault analogy of one egg being chosen out of 20 and the rest die , sounds like the million sperm that swim for only one to fertilize the egg… it’s sad we release less eggs and run out fast while guys can release gazillions sperm and still keep going 😒. Maybe has to do with them not getting pregnant but can get multiple people pregnant in the name of spreading seed.

I got pregnant with my son at 31 and had him at 32. I’m 32 now and I’d like to start trying for number 2 once I turn 33 and have before I turn 34 and then have a break and try for last at 35/36. It took 3 months for me to get pregnant with my son and have not had any miscarriages yet…I am praying it’s similar for trying for number 2. Does having had a healthy pregnancy before indicate future success or fertility at all?

When I was 38 I asked to have blood work up to check my hormone levels, etc and my doctor refused because I hadn’t been trying for a year to get pregnant. I didn’t have a partner but I just wanted to be proactive. Would rather know if something needed to be done now or fixed than try for a year and find out something was wrong. She still wouldn’t do them.
