The loomis method isn't the head itself. It's a methodology. A set of methods to construct any drawing you want. It does not propose "do this line like this", it proposes "do things in that order". Is highly effective.

Genuine Question: Even though the Loomis Method is, when used on it's own with no modifications to the formula, is meant to be perfectly symmetrical when done correctly, couldn't you just alter the shapes? like for someone with a longer chin, draw more of an oval shape with the sides cut off rather than a circle? Can't you just exaggerate what's already there? I thought the Loomis Method was more of a base/starting point you could alter as you saw fit in order to draw people not something set in stone.

Вообще, художники так не рисуют, они не рисуют круги, квадратики и т.д. это просто способ проверки твоего построения, во всяком случаи, в России учат так, что эти схемы не пошаговая инструкция, а просто объяснение формы головы и её не надо рисовать, рисовать надо то, что у тебя перед глазами, рисовать надо натуру такой какая она есть и с учетом её особенностей, проверять конструкцию головы с помощью ранее изученных схем. Не надо рисовать головы как показано на схеме, это не инструкция, ещё раз повторяю. Просто у нас много людей тоже этого бреда наслушались и повторяют как обезьянки безмозглые.

I draw anime heads using just an sphere and some prominence for the jaw ( I keep strict measures anyways, for consistency)

loomis method is not meant to be copied 1 to 1 but its a reference on how you should break down or see heads and faces to simpler forms

Hey, a full tutorial would be great. However, I think it would also be great to show some examples of how it can be adapted to draw more stylised heads like in anime. I think the method should still work as long we change some of the proportions.

I generally start the head with a sphere to make sure the skull and brain have the appropriate volume to not look weird, then slap a rectangle on the front like a welding mask, which allows me to determine the curvature of some of the main lines in perspective (the eyes, eyebrows, the nose's base, the mouth), then just go nuts from there. 😅

Sometime beginner apply any method with the exact same ration/proportion in general to different looking shape which is why they get it wrong.
