Here's a pro tip: if you're sharing a tent with someone, leave the three bean chili at home. Especially if you're hoping for it to be at all romantic. 🥰💨🤢
ОтветитьSo baffling how this guy seems to be deeply convinced about him telling us actual insights into the complex science of putting up a tent. Like use your shoes as a hammer on soft grounds but have one as a backup when your underground is harder. Oh, he didn't tell about that. He's not a pro.
ОтветитьWhen the value of the comments far outweigh the video's advice - geesh. Dan Becker is an i d i o t.
ОтветитьBahahahah people like u over complicate something that isn’t complicated!! Camping in general isn’t that complicated tent camping even more so! Only thing ruining camping is these bs!
ОтветитьAnd look out for red gums above
ОтветитьOne I have noticed is people using a ground cloth (tarp) that sticks out from under the tent. Any rain will collect on top of the tarp and make its way to you. Fold the tarp under so that rain never gets between the tent floor and the tarp. Any water pooling will be under the ground cloth.
ОтветитьWhat tent is that your using?
ОтветитьNice to see that Jim Halpert moved on from Dunder Mifflin and the waning paper industry.
ОтветитьIt's great that John Krasinski has a camping YT channel! ☺ Great video, man. 👍
ОтветитьI friend once set up a tent in winter on a super flat low part of field in Scotland. Ground was kind of hard. In the night he realised we was on a frozen lake when his body heat meant he started sinking! And yeah this REALLY WAS a friend
ОтветитьRestake restake restake. Tents won't perform as intended unless the material is taught. Nobody ever does it and it makes me crazy, so good tip in this one. The one I'd say you missed is as you're staking, the loop or line should be touching the ground so you can correctly judge what the tension will be when the stake is in the ground, rather than guessing with the line/loop 6 inches in the air - sure 45 degrees helps but even still. Also tent material should be taught, not tight - people often make the contrary mistake of overdoing the tension - if you have no ripples in the tent material it's probably a good indication you've done it right - because both too loose and too tight can cause them. If everything is taught you're going to have less problems in the wind and in moisture and it'll help massively with noise in wind.
Ответить🇵🇬🇵🇬,,,,,
ОтветитьIf a Veteran set up a temt improperly its because he was probably a grunt and never used one. Just a ranger roll 🇺🇸
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьSomething i have learned overtime is the type of soil you set up on,
don't set up on clay because water can rushes over(on top of it), and often there is evidence of rain after because it was washed away,
and don't set up on large sand gandules because its hard to pitch and you will sink into it over time.
It seems like general knowledge, but I had a friend that almost died because he had set up on clay, and when the first big rain storms came in he lost his tent and bag.
Every tent in this video would have major puddles in them if it rains.
There is no spot on the ground you can pitch a tent where it wont puddle when it rains.
The only way to not have massive puddling in your tent when it rains, is to have the floor of thr tent, made out of the same material as a tarp
Thanks Dan, great tips. Very much appreciated
ОтветитьFew weeks ago i was at festival and there was really strong storm, at like 1 am I felt water under my tent, but somehow it didn't get inside. I have really cheap tent so I was pretty surprised at the morning, water was everywhere few days after that, so i could not move my tent and had to just hope that it will be ok for the weekend, which it was.
ОтветитьI lay out the footprint for my TeePee tent. Then lay the sleeping pad on it ant try it out before puting the stakes in the ground. I once pitched my tent before it rained, My tent was then sitting in a 6" deep stream.
ОтветитьCamping is very much like making love to a beautiful woman - You lay her down (the tent), put up your pole and slip into the old bag!
ОтветитьGreat video. Also be sure you're not under a "widow-maker," i.e,. a large branch or dead tree that could fall on you with disastrous results.
ОтветитьThanks for the video! Just a minor note: you might know your soil, but you shouldn’t push the ground peg down with your foot, in case you hit a rock. As your body weight will bend the peg against the rock before you notice the resistance, as it’s relative to the bending/material of your peg.
ОтветитьBelieve it or not we Eagle scouts usually sleep with army style canvas tents, survival shelters, tarps, or with nothing at all.
ОтветитьHey Dan! What is tent is the white one highlighted in this video? White rainfly tent
ОтветитьI'd add ventilation to the list of things that should check. One of the most common reasons people have wet tents in the morning is simply from condensation from breathing all night. Good tent ventilation can really help with that.
ОтветитьOk, ok, cool. I learned something. Simple but still learned something. Steak your tent like putting lug nuts on a spare lol.
ОтветитьWhat shorts and shoes are you wearing?
ОтветитьCamping in North East Texas right now during the heat wave, July 15th. Tip #1: be IN the wind and preferably near trees but not in them, as they block the wind. Tip #2, DON'T use a tent. Use a tarp/stake down cause of wind. Use blow up mat on tarp w/maybe a sheet on it and blow up pillow w/case. Start sleeping at 11PM. Maybe use mosquito spray or net. My dog sleeps next to me. Cooking camp fire further from where I sleep, and hopefully close to snuffed out.
Ответитьthat you aren't using both loops and equalising the tension when staking your vestibules is giving me anxiety... it's my issue... call it ocd :)
ОтветитьOmg dude no way... Fair play tho... it is tough 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьOkay, I notice a pattern, every intro has blaring music over your voice. Cannot get past the intro, I came to learn from you, instead I am blasted with blaring music. Not worth the squeeze.
ОтветитьMuch appreciated!!
ОтветитьIm going camping with guides on friday to sunday so im going to follow all of the tips that you said in this video.
Edit: I'm back from camp and I had to put the tent on a little hill.
Always have an extra tarp and cord. Also always have coffee.
ОтветитьAppreciate the advice!
ОтветитьIf you MUST sleep on an incline, feet should be downhill. Otherwise, you wake up with one HELL of a headache…
ОтветитьGreat video learned a lot
ОтветитьThanks...
ОтветитьWell there's 7 minutes watsed. What a lot of guff about nothing.
ОтветитьThank you for that 45-degree stake tip
ОтветитьWhat tent is this?
ОтветитьYour first mistake is camping 🏕️
ОтветитьDon’t forget, rivers rise. You shouldn’t set up on a rivers edge if rain is forecasted .
Ответитьdo not push your pegs in with soft soled shoes as done in the video. Hit a rock and the peg can go right through the shoe and into your foot.
ОтветитьThis helped me aloooot going camping for the first time and want to avoid any bad trips so i keep going plusThis guy also gave me jim from the office vibes 😂 !
ОтветитьHe said, rhombus at 45 degrees . Thanks for the tips, but man, you really put the pressure on the zips and material , i mean, stretch and stake.
Ответитьyou have no clue what you're talking about.....
ОтветитьSubscribed, well deserved good job jangus.
ОтветитьThe Zenbivy sleeping bags attach to the mat which eliminates that middle of the night slipped off the mat thing. Great, warm, roomy bags which are easy to adjust to regulate temperature. Highly recomended.
