Paul & Morgan - My New Friends?!

I have to say as a huge fan of JaclynGlenn I am super happy to see her Paul and Morgan become friends? I thought it was extremely endearing and just very cute and made me happy to watch it Jacqueline if you’re reading this I love you I think you’re an amazing inspiration XOXO

The fact you guys have made a friendship is so wholesome! I've been watching you from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back inthe day, pre - red hair, and I remember when you first started out talking about their channel. I wouldn't have ever guessed that you guys would end up being friends. So wholesome! And they seem like cool people if they just don't over preach their beliefs.

I truly with the best for Jaclyn, but it is no longer a channel for me.

She has no problems giving a platform and actual money to dangerous people; I feel like as long as people are not harmful to her (for example, misogynists), she does not actually care.
Maybe I am actually triggered, and I hope what I wrote does not sound too bad.
This video was not even a debate, just trying to show that they are not actually bad people. The same thing happens with Blair, Arielle and so on. I get from where she comes from and her goal, I just feel like this is not how to accomplish it. Hey, they are against freedom but they are actually bad! I think other channels try to build a bridge with other people in a way I am more comfortable with.

Again, I hope everything will go well for her, but I feel like money is more important than morals, in this kind of videos, and I am uncomfortable with that.

Oh, I have also doubts about Paul and Morgan's faith, I do not care if this sound mean. It seems to me like thy - especially Paul - use Christianity to get people (like Jaclyn) to give them stuff for free and money. He does not even want to get a job, which he would be supposed to do according to his own believes, not mine.

I know I sound mean, but all of this rubs me the wrong way.

I'm might not have the same views as them or agree on some things with Paul and Morgan, but I can't deny that they are really sweet and pleasant people :)

Hi! PSA: I'm not trying to be rude, just sharing my opinion.

While I've always agreed that having discussions with those who disagree with you is incredibly important (especially if you want to understand them better as people), I take issue with the verbiage along the lines of "just because you disagree, doesn't mean you can't be friends." And I've provided some reasons :)

1. It's a privilege to be friends with people who 'disagree' with you.
Oftentimes, people who follow or believe in ideology that disagree with me are literally against my rights and existence as a human being. While it may be possible for some, I cannot see myself being friends with someone who thinks I belong in hell because I love a woman.
If Jaclyn and David are okay with being friends with Paul and Morgan, that's alright! But there is a certain privilege that is accompanied by that and needs to be acknowledged.

2. Giving harmful ideologies a platform.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be kind, polite, and understanding of them and their situation, but I am saying that it is incredibly hard to see people who have propagated very harmful messages about already suffering and marginalized communities on a channel which made you feel safe. In inviting them onto your channel with the pretense of 'friendship', you are, in a sense, normalizing their world views and giving them a platform to continue along that path.

3. shaming those who don't want to be friends with those who disagree with them.
Again, we should always be kind to our fellow humans. But when certain philosophies deny your existence, disrespect your core identity, harm other marginalized communities with their rhetoric, and continue to do so unapologetically, we should not have to spare them our time and energy trying to be 'friends' with people who believe in them. In saying, "just because you disagree, doesn't mean you can't be friends" you're almost devaluing the harm that people (including myself) have had to endure.

4. we can still have honest, open dialogue without being friends
Exactly like it sounds. I think friendship is important, but it is also a relationship of mutual respect. You cannot be friends with someone if you don't respect their core identity and the struggles they have lived through because of it.

I just had to come back and say paul is an awful person and I deeply feel for morgan. The fact that you can support him and overlook how abusive this relationship is, is astonishing.

I honestly thought I was a Christian but when I thought about the idea that God would create people he knew were gonna deny him and end up in hell I question if I really love God or am even a Christian after all,

I strongly agree that regardless of what differences any of us have we should love each other and try and understand each other’s differences and where each other are coming from and not just villainize each other and assume the worst about each other.
I love to learn about how different people think, feel, believe and act and why and it was great to learn about all of you.

It’s complicated because I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community and Paul and Morgan have said pretty terrible things about us and other minority groups. But at the same time, I respect you massively for being able to build bridges like this. I’d like to think that Paul and Morgan are just stuck in these beliefs and aren’t terrible people but at the same time, I’m unsure… It’s just… complicated.

So I'm genuinely curious how people feel about this now after all the BS those two have posted and stated since.

I feel like JLP represents the Augustine of Hippo side of Christianity, unhinged and detached from reality, focused only on heaven, while P&M represent the Thomas Aquinas side which has its feet on the ground and actually cares about what's going on in the here and now.

I find that less than 1%, maybe 1/3% of day to day life, has anything to do with politics or religion. Most of us didn't even know what the people we spent time with really felt about those topics until we had social media.
In person, most people just talk about their common interests and do activities together. It's possible to have several hobbies and interests that having nothing to do with hot button topics.

I think the issue people have with this is the normalisation of people who are super homophobic/misogynistic/racist (see Paul's rant about interracial couples). By Jaclyn collabing with them and being all 'see look even though their content is damaging and hateful aren't they so nice to me and my boyfriend?'

I think one of the best benefits of hanging out with people who have different beliefs than you is that you get to see their human side. Every person has their own internal idea of "christians" or "atheists" or "jews" but when you actually spend time to sit down with them, share a meal, have conversations, a lot of those preconceived notions can disappear. Yes they still believe what they believe, but you stop painting them with one brush stroke and suddenly there are so many more layers! My christian family probably think that atheists are heathens who do drugs and have no morals and any kids they have would be doomed, but if they spent time at Jaclyns house they would realize what a kind hearted person she is and what a great mother she is.

There are most Christians that are mostly black-and-white thinkers that force their beliefs on others.
