does share play work with spotify?

Whatever happened to the Next Gen CarPlay experience announced last year that takes over all the screens?

had car play for 18 months. its decent but not blown away

So very minor quality of life changes that basically affects very few people

All cool additions, but still a bit disappointed how Apple didn’t say anything more about their interface for CarPlay that directly integrates with the car’s own instrument cluster, radio, climate control, etc; just like how even though Wireless CarPlay has been around for some time there are still many vehicles that are only available with wired CarPlay standard

Cool stuff, but you still need to swap to maps manually if you receive a call during navigation. They should implement the call menu in overlay with maps to be efficient.

You did my Siri too

Updated to iOS 17 and it screwed up CarPlay. All functions work as normal except trying to make a call. When I tell Siri to call someone, it sends it straight to the phone and my vehicle’s mic and speakers don’t work. In fact the only thing I can do is use my phone or put it on speaker…even if it’s connected via usb. Incoming calls work perfectly fine and use the vehicle’s mic and speakers as it should. Outgoing calls are broken.

They made the Music player look worse. Before it was a blurred zoomed image of the album art, now it’s just one color that’s a mix of all the colors in the album art.

so still no 4th quick launch icon? I use Maps, Phone, Messages and Music--why do they only have three quick launch icons so one has to be left off?!?!

One thing that I miss the most about apple, is that they are becoming like every other phone brand. Everything is over simplistic. The icons in particular no longer have this clean, gradient and therefore high quality feel to it.

What is cross fade?

Can you do wireless if you're car doesn't have wireless CarPlay?

May I ask how to make car ply full screen?

I actually kind of miss seeing the album art blurred behind the song instead of just a solid colour. Feels like it’s lost a bit of personality

I trued to use Apple Maps but living in Dallas it just isn’t fast enough if I miss a turn or something it takes forever to update or reroute

Does SharePlay work for Spotify too?

Your video shows how absurd it is that touching a smartphone while driving is illegal but touching a car’s touchscreen while driving is not illegal

Do you have any idea why CarPlay does not give an audio warning on Google maps for speed cameras. Thought it was Google maps but recently used my wife’s android phone and it gave a audio alarm on approach whilst navigating with maps.

Share Play is a great new feature but I spent 20 minutes in the car today trying to get this to work until I discovered that the one feature Apple should have included from the beginning is only available if the driver has a paid subscription to Apple Music. Hi! Great video but I have a question. Does SharePlay automatically show up in CarPlay after updating my iPhone or do I have to turn it on somewhere? Because that new SharePlay icon/button does not show up on my vehicle’s screen. Do I have to have a subscription to Apple Music for SharePlay to work?

No 5-6 I use spotify in carplay, No 7-8 I use waze...anyway little steps for Apple, big steps for Humans 😂

I tried to trigger Siri by saying “the word” but it didn’t work. Still works by saying “Siri” though!

Apple Maps slowly getting to where Google Maps was 5 years ago…
Still can’t use it though :( as they still only have a fraction of POIs. Not sure they will ever catch up or even be usable there (apart from in the US where it’s actually great)

Thank you, but you made a bit of a meal of your last tip regarding downloading of maps. The only problem is, you’ve failed to say anything about how to actually download the Maps, and then where to find them

You can actually still say "Siri" as part of a conversation without triggering Siri. As long as you couple up the word with something, i.e: Siri is not a stand-alone word but part of a sentence; doesn't matter if the sentence actually ends with "Siri".

For me wireless CarPlay and ford sync4a and sync4 does not work after 5 to ten minutes it starts glitching then crashes disconnects re connects then disconnects again and won’t reconnect not a fan at all done this in iOS 16 and 17 sync is up to date I’ve talked to ford and apple they both have no solution or sound like they want to fix it

I have pretty much lost all my connection issues since going from 16 to 17. I use a wireless CarPlay dongle and used to have to reset my phone every day but not any more.

Their should be way more wallpapers, why they only let you use only a couple ? 🥲

Maybe one day Apple with make CarPlay where you can select which apps you want to show on screen. Would love to be able to activate and deactivate my home alarm system from car screen. Thanks for sharing

I need all western coastal US states for a long vacation drive and don’t want to use all the mobile data needed for the drive as I’m from outside the US…

How do I go about getting widescreen/full screen CarPlay on my car. It is a shame that CarPlay only uses half the screen.

I LOVE crossfade.

My least favorite feature is now you can no longer skip text messages in the car. If you tap on a text message to clear it but you already know what it says, you can't just hit skip. You have to listen to it all the way through or it won't clear

just 1 thing with Shareplay. if you want to use Shareplay. you must be subscribed to Apply Music. there are some people who have Apple Music but don't subscribe.

I've been using iOS 17 for a couple months now on my iPhone 12 mini and LOVE the updates to CarPlay, specially offline Maps and SharePlay. My new iPhone 15 Pro Max Black Titanium gets here today, so now I have to get a USB A to USB C cable in order to use CarPlay in my vehicle.
