Today’s Brexiters can't seem to see that when the dystopian miasma of the current age passes over into something completely different over the next decade, all of their “will of the people” hokum will seem mindlessly vapid to around 95% of people in this country. An embarrassing remnant of a darker age, one in which we had a government so inept that they couldn’t even build a high speed railway line over the course of a decade, even after chucking billions of pounds at it.

Would it be safe to say that a government, with all the scientists and institutions that bring them advice, are working in the interest of the country they are to govern?
And would it be safe to say that a vast majority of the voters in a democracy vote on emotional grounds rather than solid sheer knowledge?

Now what if a government leadership with, say, questionable points of view regarding being realistic about the results of the Brexit, organises a referendum for the people, being the voters..... at the same time pushing them to vote in favour of the Brexit..

It basically means powerful people obusing a referendum to get the mass to vote in their favor....
A mass that has no idea of the consequences of their vote.... (isn’t it true that the morning AFTER the referendum the most Googled question in the UK was: “what does Brexit mean?”....??)

If it can be prooved that it was OBVIOUS to that leading government that Brexit was inevitably to be a SURE failure in many ways.... than there are two important questions arising:

- If the people in charge KNEW it was going to be a failure.... why did they push for it to happen??
- If the people in charge decided to ignore all the advice AGAINST the Brexit but used the referendum to make it happen anyway.... shouldn’t they be held responsible for the consequences??

While discussing the Brexit with friends (some being from the UK...) just after the referendum result became known,I have said several times that it wouldn’t surprise me if both Mr. B. Johnson and Mr. N. Farage in future would be charged in court for high treason....
I think in the rest of the EU,among the ‘normal’ people there were very few that thought leaving the EU would be any good AT ALL!!!

I am just saying that responsibility means one MUST be held accountable.... in this high a position.... and with these devastating consequences...

I wonder if ever the world will find out about the backgrounds.... hidden agenda’s and the like....

I wish the English all the luck in the world.... I’m afraid they will need it more than ever....

Kind Regards,Henk Tulp,the Netherlands.

I voted leave! I don’t regret that! The UK was paying too much to the EU, money that is better spent here. More EU citizens wanted to live in the UK than UK citizens wanted to live in the EU. America is its own country, Australia is, why can’t the UK be! The majority wanted to leave! As Brit born and bred I’ve noticed little difference. The UK struggled before and it’s still struggling now. Hopefully things will have a chance to get better over the years now. If EU citizens don’t like the fact that the UK wanted out! Wanted independence- then tough! Brits had a choice. They made it!

Scotland warned WM take Scotland out of the EU and you will divide the UK. In the process the Scottish people know it is not a union of equality and now believe it never was. The mistake is given power to politicians who do not bare responsibility for their actions.

The UK is not divided into 'regions.' Scotland, England, Wales & Northern Ireland are the 4 separate countries that make up the UK. Only England voted for Brexit; the other countries didn't but because England is the biggest country & they counted all the votes of the UK together, Brexit won and went ahead.

China should play the same game and send its top officials to Scotland directly and hold talks with them. They have their own parliament and ministers so it opens possibilities.

Uk was never in Schengen so we always needed our passports to get in. The difference now will be visas long term. We did, however, have 'light checks.'
And the problem is Northern Ireland remains huge. This WILL divide our country.
But yes those who voted Brexit now mostly regret it (Bregret!). The hard Brexit Johnson delivered didn't satisfy those who did vote for it and was seen by those of us who did the research and voted remain as idiocy.

Brexit isn't a mistake. The mistake was joining the EU in the first place. All of our current problems can be traced back to that. We need to be governed from within, not ruled from without.

This is all BS, the EU will be falling apart in 10 years because the Germans and Italians don't have enough young people to maintain their industries, as a consequence countries like Greece and Malta wont get their handouts none of them are natural fit. Its best UK stays well away from them, as for Scotland they'll cut their own economic throat if they leave the union. Badly presented and biased post.
