I've had the double oak, for my taste buds, and limited periodic drinking, I actually like the standard Woodford Reserve with Coke on the rocks.

made the mistake of nosing this in a cairn. I’ve loved it since I started sipping, but nosing it smelled like liquid smoke. One of the few beers I could absolutely not drink was a beer called Bonfire by Sam Addams years ago.

I might have ruined heavy oaked bourbons for myself.

Sams club has it for $49 definitely worth it at that price, I would not recommend paying $60 though

I agree with you on WRDO store picks. Just bought one and it's excellent. Much more balanced than your description of the standard bottle.

I don't think I'm a fan of it. I find it has very harsh chemical/sulpher/ammonia notes. It's way too tannic. It improves with time in the glass, but I don't want to have to wait an hour for a pour to become palatable.

Man, WRDO has become one of my favorites! I always end up getting a new bottle and loving it. It doesn't fail for me.

Been seeing this bottle come up in a lot of recommended lists and have definitely seen some split reviews in videos and comments. A lot of people are saying to go with Old Forester 1910 over this if given the choice - even from people who like the Woodford. I guess ultimately it's up to the drinker to decide haha I'm wanting to get into whiskey/bourbon/rye, grabbing my first bottle in the next week or two. That bottle should be $39.99. Costco carries it for that and so does Total Wine and Spirits.

Here in SoCal, the regular WR Double Oaked retails for $39.99. Total Wine's store pick goes for $59.99 and it is worth the extra 20 dollars.

I don't like drinking smoke bombs so doubke oak and my pallet don't mix. Like sucking on a wet wood chip

So my wife got me this for Christmas. And although it was a good poor it was not the sweet syrup taste so many videos say it is. What am I missing?

This bourbon for me is my favorite neat drink. Just absolutely love it. Pricey in Pennsylvania, around $60, but I love it.

This is a sip it for me. Enjoy it very much, but it is expensive in Ontario, Canada, so it is sipped sparingly!

My bottle is a store pick, and it tastes like vanilla frosted cupcakes. Go with those.

It's a sip it for me but I also think the flavors open up when I let it sit for about 20min after the pour.

So if you choose to skip it, why would you get another bottle if it’s a store pick? Not sure I understand that.

Ah, another experience with Woodford Double Oaked that is consistent with mine. First year into whiskey (and drinking, actually) and kept seeing it as a top recommendation for the first bottle of bourbon. Smells great, but it didn't translate to the taste, which felt like predominant oak and a bit of spice. A boring old bottle of Buffalo Trace was much more of my jam.

This is my all time favorite Bourbon!!! Literally tastes like pancake syrup to me!!
