Is the white bar of zote soap just for whites? Or can you wash your colors with it too?

Thanks, I just bought my first bar of Zote soap. I shredded a little from the bar. I placed a few pieces in the bathtub w/hot water. Used a sponge to clean the bathroom sinks and faucet. They shined like they were brand new. Then scrubbed the bathtub. I couldn't believe how well this product worked. I also used this product on white socks. I've tried to get our socks white again. I've used bleach, oxyclean etc. Nothing worked until I used this. Next I'll make a batch of laundry detergent. Thanks for your recipe. I'm one happy mama.😊

What size bar is this?

I think you tried to say for a half of the Zote bar, only 2 1/2 LITERS ....is that what you meant? I grew up w/Mom using Zote soap. It sure is good stuff.

Can you add Borax or Washing soda while hot?

I'm actually doing this today too. Bought the stuff begining of the week. I went and bought Castile soap(4 bars $5) Arm and Hammer washing SODA (1 box $6), Borax(1 box $6) and a 5 gallon food grade bucket with screw lid ($17). 1 1/2 bars(6oz) grated Castile soap melt in 2 cups hot water on stove..fill 5 gallon bucket half-way with HOT(not boiling) water..add 1 cup washing soda and 1 cup borax..mix well..add in melted soap that you heated..stir well.. fill bucket to 5 gallon capacity. 1/2 c - 3/4 c per load..

I use this one bar in my kitchen all over my house tell me to clean not only laundry and kitchen towels but to also clean makeup brushes, and anything else that needs to be cleaned. Thank you for the recipe

How about dishwasher recipe please.

Traditional soap has been made for hundreds of years with this recipe. In science, the saponification process you know that it is made with beef tallow (beef fat), acid, stabilizer, fragrance. People who are vegan or don’t use animal products should not use this product…( I’m not vegan btw). I love zote soap brand and the cost is great.

Does this work in high efficiency washing machines?

They have found that the bar soap leaves soap scum inside. the wash machines and your water line it. not good for your washing machine and it doesn't completely wash out of your laundry.

Careful with the hot pot on glass tables.....if it hasn't exploded yet, it will.

This is great and all however I made this years ago and it ruined all my washing and my top loader. I couldn’t get the build up out of the clothing. I did laundry stripping and no one wants that. Please do t try this in a HE washing machine guys! I recently made a laundry powder with similar ingredients and it was a total waste of money. Same thing happens when you don’t have anything in the formula to lift, suspend and remove oils and odours. The sweat stains and smells will accumulate in your clothing leaving them full, dingy and you’ll cry 😢. Laundry liquid or soap needs emulsifiers, redisposition agents and that’s why these diy’s don’t work well. The washing machine will also have a sludgy disgusting bacteria slime inside your drum that you can’t see and over time the smell and the sludge will be in all your loads of laundry unless you strip the washing machines apart and remove it. Also just using a washing machine cleaner won’t fully work. Trust me, I’m trying to help you guys

What videos on why ppl stop using this method. It’s great as a once in a blue tool to strip clothes, but not daily use.
I use a drop of HE & tap cold, hang dry everything you don’t want to replace. .. clothes are perfect.

My recipe is almost the same but I add Washing Soda (NOT Baking Soda) and Borax to the liquid soap. It has worked great for me. Then we moved into a house that has the washer and dryer in the hall closet. So I didn't have a place to put my bucket of laundry soap. 🙃

You can go to Walmart and gets a cheap laundry detergent called ROMA cost less than $2 and you don't have to do all this extra crap. This is doing to much 🙄

Just a little fyi: These bars were never intended for use in a washing machine, they're for hand washing clothes. Be careful using it in your machine, as it may clog it up.

Back on the day, the back of the wrapping will also feature a drawing of soapy dishes in a container. Anyway, grandma used it to do dishes by hand. I don't know about the dishwasher machine: i think a lot of water is used to do so. I wash my dishes by hand as well.

Can't read everything with all the ADS blocking. How does this work for a front-loading washer?

I’ve tried this so many times and it doesn’t work or clean my clothes. It still smells off and leaves a film 😢

Where do you purchase your zote?

I brought 29 bars. That is how serious I am. Have made liquid in the past but just by adding water to powder detergent I already made. Will try this on a even smaller scale.

You should get silicone ice trays and make pods next time and sprinkle some scent beads in the mixture for added fragrance clothes come out super clean and smelling good

Soap by itself can leave soap slim in your washer and eventually clog things up. But if you add some dishwashing detergent it dissolves everything more like regular detergent and you probably are still close to one cent a load.
