I dont get the people crying about being able to destroy shrines. Its just part of the engine they made. It would be different if you were ever encouraged to do it, but you never are. Pointless criticism.
Ответитьhonestly, I would love to see a dedicated video on the castles portrayed in ac shadows and the details with the rights and wrong
ОтветитьOk, I understand and agree with lots of the usual complaints about the game but can I just ask this?.... Why are we all only making a big deal about Yasuke's samurai status now? He's been called and portrayed as that for years but only this got hate for it? I don’t get it!
ОтветитьIt’s literally the opposite, Ghost devs claimed historical accuracy and AC Puts a disclaimer on every game about its being historical fiction lmao
ОтветитьHaving played the game I think it was a valiant effort by Ubisoft. I don’t think the Japanese have ever put out a historically accurate game ever. I don’t think they would ever try to portray European history. They are so afraid of getting it wrong they won’t even attempt it. It’s supposed to tie in to the assassins creed universe and it does it’s job.
ОтветитьAmericans are so used to covering up historical facts,
When truth is bared they get histerical.
Im over 120 hours in. Its a very good game
ОтветитьThose insanely bad facial expressions, bad plot and character progression makes for a game i would not recomend buying outside a good sale...
Ответить"Ah shit, sliced another water melon!"
ОтветитьThank god! A neutral video about assassin's Creed shadows! I am so used to seeing "game bad" videos that its refreshing to have a video with a neutral take on it and accuracy of the game's history.
ОтветитьAwesome video. I love videos like this as they're fun and we learn so thank you. Subbed up!
That said everyone just keep in mind that AC has never been about historical accuracy since day one as a fantasy/sci-fi IP. With that in mind (to not get mad about what's not accurate), it's easier to enjoy this rabbit hole niche analysis, love it!
I just dont get why historical accuracy became a discussion point (beyond comparison to competitor's games like Ghost).
Histocial Accuracy exists in C in the forms of certain codex entries or Discovery Tours, not base game experience itself (like with story lines).
To be fair, AC has always been historical fiction and Ubisoft has never really professed strongly otherwise. People just took them saying that they took care to make sure that it hewed closer to historical details as some kind of promise that it would be 100% accurate.
Ubisoft takes pride in its research and trying to get details of the architecture and world right as well as use historical events as a jumping off point, weaving historical characters into the story. The Codex entries are always a joy to history enthusiasts, but the game itself is very obviously prioritizing a gaming experience over historical accuracy.
That disclaimer also isn't unique to Shadows and has been there for pretty much as long as I can remember at the start of each AC game.
Imho Shadows is the most immersive Sengoku sim up to date, despite getting quite a few things wrong (often clothing and armor). If you ride around the countryside or town it really feels like you are in medieval Japan.
ОтветитьThese games are historical fiction! And pretending a game should be 100% accurate to history is a fallacy.
I honestly prefer fantasy based games as it avoids the comparisons with “history”, and I treat these games as if they were pure “fantasy”.
This was a great video!
Fantastic video. I learned alot!
ОтветитьNo way something gets everything wrong, or everything right, I'm guessing this game gets a lot wrong and a bit right.
ОтветитьAmazing Video TBH 👏
Ответитьapparently only 🏳🌈🏳🌈 hate the AC: shadow feel free to bark here. also thx for this video. this will educate those forced hated chained people's
ОтветитьThank you for talking about the truth behind the myth that is bushido + "heroics of the samurai" during samurai days. To me, it connects with the broader truth behind modern depictions of Japan. I think that the myth is so potent that it allows BOTH Japanese and non-Japanese people who engage with historical depictions of Japan to glaze its culture and history HARD. When a game tries to engage with the truth behind the gilded surface like AC Shadows, the only reaction from these believers is unjustified anger. To those people, I say: there's plenty of things to love and respect about Japanese culture and history without pretending like it is a flawless ideal!
ОтветитьI'll say this from a historical perspective mixed with Assassin's Creed lore: I'm not really a fan they retconned the idea that Japan's Assassin Brotherhood was inspired and influenced by the Chinese Brotherhood, which existed before it. The story they came up with still makes sense thematically for the idea of clash of East and West, but the game itself and the codex entries we read make it very clear the devs knew how much China influenced Japan and the samurai of the Sengoku age. I feel it would have made great sense to reflect that in the history of the Japanese Brotherhood as well.
ОтветитьI am truly grateful for this video. As one of the enjoyers of this game, getting to know the historical accuracies and inaccuracies enhances the game for me. It also makes me appreciate this channel more for using actual accounts and benefit of the doubt (in regards to the castle designs of the time) to explain the rights and wrongs of the game. Thank you.
ОтветитьI feel people forget this is a video game. Not a documentary. They hold this game to a standard that no other work of fiction has ever been held to.
ОтветитьUbisoft Japan the people love the game and Yasuke the amazing Samurai. They said they wont to buy the soundtrack.
ОтветитьJapanese love the game and soundtrack while Americans are crying.
ОтветитьBushido is not a modern concept and you know it. Just because the way it's shown today has been structured in 1900 it doesn't mean at all that Bushido isn't a real thing. Actually it's the opposite, we have lot's of evidences to prove it was real.
ОтветитьWilliam Adams=Miura Anjin of the ''Niou'' series was also not an official samurai at the time of the Battle of Sekigahara (1600 AD).
He was given his surname and domain as an official samurai in 1607 AD.
If Nobunaga had lived long enough without dying in the Honnoji Incident, and if Yasuke had continued to serve him... Yasuke might have become an official samurai.
10/10 immersion for feudal Japan. I really felt like a peasant shaken down for everything I ever earned by faraway feudal overlords
ОтветитьEvery single Assassins Creed game says its a work of fiction though, they never claimed it was historically accurate.
ОтветитьCan you make Videos about Japan Northern Wars? And some other Northern Samurai Clans?
ОтветитьDepicting Yasuke as getting with Oichi-sama is so disrespectful. She is an ancestress of the Emperors of today on account of her granddaughter or great granddaughter marrying into the Imperial Family.
ОтветитьI thought Kosaka Masanobou was one of the first writers to mention the word Bushido when he wrote the Takeda book on military history.
ОтветитьThere are diapers but theres also flowers
ОтветитьThis game is probably more accurate than Valhalla
I still enjoyed both games anyway lol
Japans pm condemned this game yet you give it further publicity for views....no shame 😂. This whole game is wrong and woke...
ОтветитьNew Ghost of Yotei trailer out now!
ОтветитьLove the video but You did miss one other thing they got wrong that being laby Oichi from my understanding of her story shes not supposed to be alive during the games story because in history she died with her husband when his castle got ivaded.
ОтветитьI think the problem in this game is they always says historically accurate. It would’ve been better if they didn’t keep spouting that everytime to avoid backlash
ОтветитьAs I was playing shadows, especially when I'm at the top of the various castles in the map, I could finally see it; how a castle could hold thousands of soldiers and withstand sometimes years being besieged and how complicated it was for the attackers to assault the walls. And right at the moment I wished I was playing some other game but on that map. Hopefully there is a mod for Bannerlord set in the Sengoku jidai period.
ОтветитьAC1: Inspired by historical events and characters. This work of fiction was designed, developed, and produced by a multicultural team of various religious faiths and beliefs.
They added "sexual orientations and gender identies" around the time that about 1/2 the enemies in the game were women and they made Greeks brown.
Love historical fiction in the AC games and I really appreciate videos like yours that show what is real. Thank you!
ОтветитьI always thought it was a joke when people say Ubisoft like that I didn’t know people fr says it like that
ОтветитьThere is not much documentation so it is difficult to say for sure, but Yasuke was probably not a samurai.
ОтветитьOda Nobunaga is my friend
ОтветитьI was also very impressed by nobunaga in game I wish so much he was a more recurring character, he had a lot of presence
ОтветитьAre the hideout buildings historicaly accurate? Serious question
ОтветитьWhat you got to remember is that they're not just trying to recreate Japan during this time. They're also trying to make a fun game and that will always be a balancing act. Ask yourself this. Is it better or worse that the castles are the way they are? Would it be more fun if they were like those Fords? I would say no so recreating those castles realistically, but from a different time period is in my opinion is a good balance point. It makes the game better but also maintains a nice veneer of real history and that is generally what this series shoots for as far as authenticity goes
