A boy in my immediate circle at school was incredibly jealous of me having a girl as well before him or any of the boys in the group. I'd spend most of my free time with her playing tennis, bike riding, watching films etc. We just had a natural bond. So this boy decided to spread a rumour that I had told people that the girl had performed a sexual act on me. Within a few days, everyone was repeating this and I'm sad to say that this girl who was actually my best friend believed them. Our relationship was never the same again. 
Years later, this boy who has now grown up added me on social media. He admitted that it was him who had spread the rumour as a joke. The worse part is, he was basically laughing about it like it was a joke. Resentment, insecurities, inadequacies etc bring the absolute worst out of some people. They'll hurt you even if you've never done anything bad to them.

I believe her that these rumours weren't true, but even if she actually would've gotten plastic surgery, it shouldn't affect her career or personal life in any negative way. Beauty standards for woman are complete bs. They shame you for not being perfect, which actually means different things for different people anyway. When you want to feel better about yourself and get plastic surgery they shame you for getting it done... There's no way to make people happy.
