I agree with this treatment. This is what japanese gets for badly treating amarican pow's.

Best way to make a Japanese PoW behave in WW2: threaten to shoot them in the face (so they are not recognizable), then add their name to a list of people that were captured and cooperating with the Americans, then give that list to the Japanese (as part of a PoW exchange request). All of a sudden it wasn't death or glory, but anonymity or shame for them and their family back in Japan; and they started giving all the information they knew. Apparently it is more important to maintain the appearance of honor, than actually giving aid to the enemy. Remember that when anyone talks highly of Bushido, all it takes is a threat of a rumor given to a practitioner of it and they will literally do anything you want them to do.

Don't think they are protected under the Geneva convention because the Japanese didn't even recognize it

That intelligence officer was 1st Lieutenant. Whereas Sledgehammer's new commander guy was 2nd Lieutenant. Saying slangs like 'fucking intelligence' must be a mutiny.

Some of them are not even ethnic Japanese. Who might have been mistreated in Japanese Army, and who might despise Japan even more than Americans do.

One of the saddest chapters of history is the fact that the truth about Japan and Japanese and their conduct during WWII was whitewashed and pretty much hidden! The Japanese committed such horrific atrocities and war crimes that made the Nazis look like child’s play! Yet, very a few if any of the Japanese general and government officials were held accountable! What most people learned in school and seen in movies and documentaries about WWII pails in comparison to the actual truth about how sadistic, sick, and evil the Japanese war machine really was! The war crimes and crimes against humanity that they committed against the Chinese, filipinos, and especially the American prisoners of war was absolutely horrific and unparallel in the history of mankind! Yet they try to portray themselves as peaceful, loving people now because they know they don’t have the power anymore! There is a very good reason that world leaders who knew the truth made sure that Japan will never again be allowed to have an official and powerful military! I don’t have anything against or have any prejudice against the Japanese people, however as military and WWII historian and scholar, it is extremely difficult to over look the atrocities the Japanese committed and even today the majority of the Japanese people feel a deep pride about that period, though they will never show it publicly! One must really study and research the truth beyond the water downed version of the history and events to truly understand and grasp the depth of the atrocities that was committed by the Japanese!

As a person of Chinese ethnic backgrounds, I wouldn't even raise a finger should the US Marines shot a jap prisoners of war in WWII. The amount of atrocities committed by the Japanese Imperial Army made the Nazi German Waffen SS Einsatzgruppen comandos look like regular soldiers. If the side switched in this scene, no one in the IJA would even give a damn. Meanwhile, by this time the marines should have already known the atrocities committed by the IJA particularly after what happened to Chinese civilians in the light of the Doolittle Raid in 1942.

Pacific didn't shy away from showing the reality of war. Western media and documentaries would only show how the Marines tried to take POWs and Japanese refused to surrender. In reality, they were reluctant to take Japanese POWs due to Racism. This is exactly how it happened

Very few Japanese soldiers willingly surrendered, most of those who were captured were unconscious or badly wounded.

Say what you will but no-one can deny the courage and tenacity of the average Imperial Japanese Army society.

Yes, maybe not have the prisoners of war just standing in the open like that would indeed be more intelligent by the "intelligence" officer. While I do not condone war crimes, there is something called human nature. "They" just tried to kill those soldiers. Its a war crime waiting to happen.

Japanese were awful in WW2. Their famous "honor" shown with samurai movies, is only between eachother not with non-japanese. Idc if Americans did war cr1m3s against them, look up what the japanese did to POW and to chinese civilians, but it was totally wrong to drop 2 nukes on Japan. They were about to surrender coz they had recently found out the Soviet Union wanted to make war on them, the USA was too quick and impatient and wanted an immediate surrender.

What you guys (brits included) did to Europe tho and still doing in present day (American major influence on most EU countries) is unforgivable. You got your payback now, look at the state of your countries, literal sh1th0l3s. You helped share bolshevism and defeated the Last True Knights of Europe. If your grandpa's would see the world nowdays, they would fight alongside A.H and rightly so.
