This discussion I will offer some initial impressions and reflections from the conference "Archives Unbound: 50 Years of Hope, Resistance, and Rebellion." The conference was held this past week at UCSB.

The panels, keynotes and presentations from the conference were thankfully captured by the amazing group of people who organized the conference and run the A/V team there (I don't know if they still call it that, but that's what they called it in my day): https://www.youtube.com/@archivesunbounducsb/streams

Please take your time and watch all of those presentations when you have time. They are well worth it and we will try to capture and further explore some of the conversations raised this past week in dialogue hopefully with more of the participants in the coming weeks.

In this discussion I will also share a video I recorded at the conference with Arun Kundnani and Steven Osuna.

Arun Kundnani is the author of What is Antiracism? (Verso, 2023), The Muslims are Coming! (Verso, 2014) and The End of Tolerance (Pluto, 2007), which was selected as a New Statesman book of the year. He has written for the Nation, the Guardian, the Washington Post, Vice, and The Intercept. A former editor of the journal Race & Class.

Steven Osuna is an associate professor of Sociology at CSU Long Beach. He has written extensively on street organizations, policing, the so-called war on drugs, and the ravages of capitalism and neoliberalism. He also has experience organizing in the Philippine solidarity movement and other struggles. He has also been on the podcast a few times before: https://millennialsarekillingcapitalism.libsyn.com/size/5/?search=Steven+Osuna

UAW 4811 workers at UCSB joined the Stand Up UC Strike yesterday, and we send our solidarity to them and will be asking if there are ways we can support them. We covered that strike last week, which had started at UC Santa Cruz: https://www.youtube.com/live/LSSp7UcIo3g?feature=shared
