Exactamundo, Louise. Colour theory is the nervous system and Value is the backbone. So many teaching artists pay lip service to colour mixing and dispense finite recipes without any of the fundamental knowledge required to pay it forward. Short lessons such as this lead to broader, practical understanding of temperature and chroma, without overwhelming the student with science. Kudos to you!

Many people think that red, blue and yellow are the primaries but the real primaries are magenta, cyan and yellow. To get the most vibrant purple you need magenta and cyan. Similarly the most vibrant green is cyan and yellow and the most vibrant orange is magenta and yellow. But, having a cool and warm red and a cool and warm blue will provide lots of options and most of the time you don't want the most vibrant color.

Nice warm CA brown on your arms! So two cools make the best purple?

I try not to be negative to myself but I used to think that I am almost colorblind for shades. I never see what colour is dominant or which one to add to mix shade I like. I was a little stressed about it but watching your videos I realised that I am just a beginner and need much much practice. Your advices are so useful and encouraging that I get a wish to explore and learn, to dive much deeper without a fear of failure. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻💜

j'ai toujours travaillé les couleurs instinctivement, j'ai plusieurs tubes de couleurs déjà faites que je mélange intuitivement et ça marche plutôt bien. Mais j'ai suivi votre cours "la joie de peindre" et de voir faire ces nuances, moi qui suis fan des couleurs m'a donné envie de faire des nuanciers aussi, chose que je m'étais toujours refusé de faire trouvant ça trop "scolaire". J'ai passé ma journée d'hier à faire des violets, et c'était magique 🤩. Ce que je préfère c'est le bleu outremer et le bleu cobalt avec différents rouge : du carmin, du magenta primaire et le rouge vif Pyrole. C'était si réjouissant, je n'imaginais pas avoir tant de bonheur à faire des ronds de couleurs différentes et j'ai bien envie de continuer. J'aime encore plus les couleurs, si c'est possible !
