Why not just put a few layers of elmers glue on tire? But honestly ive secretly always wanted to paint my rims an tire too.

Like it would look so cool to have tire an rim cool colors...but asked a cop an he was like ....your the first to ever ask, idk honestly. Haha

2hrs total to do all 4 wheels : mouahahahahahahahahahaha. It's a full day job.

Wire brushes on the angle grinder often work the rust into the metal and even though it may look shiny, it can be worse than before. CSD grinding disks are the better choice, but more expansive and more difficult on uneven surfaces.
As far as I know there is no DIY friendly solution for rust removal on uneven surfaces. Sand blasting or even laser cleaning of course blow most budgets.
And while rust stoppers like Owatrol Oil are very effective and super easy to use, they will not leave you with a smooth finish if the rust already created deep pores in the metal

Im going to put rim covers on, and i dont want to waste money on a bunch of primer and paint cans, could i just use Black Primer, with no paint?

You didn't take the little weight on the wheel off. When they are balanced later on, won't they move those around?

What happens when you need your tires rebalanced and the weights replaced? Wouldn’t that leave a bare spot where the previous weight covered? I work at a tire shop and a lot of the time new weights are put in different places during balancing. Just curious

Thanks for the video. Just tell me one thing. If i have just purchased a new car with new alloys and I only want to change the color, I dont have to apply primer or sanding or anything right. Just spray the new paint after cleaning with rubbin alcohol right as the wheels are brand new? What do you suggest please tell me.

Hey Chris can you answer a quick question? i watched your video of you welding in that peice of metal in your car and than you sprayed down a black spray paint that coverrs the metal and any rust left over. can you give your opinion on a good rust spray paint that actually works? i need to buy a quality one. ideally i would like one that sticks to a clean metal surface that has been sanded down and has like a built in primer in it so it doesnt fall off clean metal. thanks chris

I primed one side of the wheel (internal), and in many places the prime (I used Rust-Oleum Automotive Primer) was like a layer of chalk. I wiped it out, it was a lot, like a thick layer of dust. Then I just washed that wheel. The primer adhere to some parts (best where there was a bare metal), but not everywhere where is was painted surface. I think maybe I should just go over that primed surface w/paint, so together they would adhere, or I did something wrong. The primer is for Metal and Fiberglass surfaces. When you touch that primed surface, should it stay on your fingers or not. I would appreciate any opinion on this matter, I googled and nothing about it.

Thank you for the film. I am replacing tires and saw that rims were rusty (exactly like in this film, it was like a layer of rust, you wipe it out and it comes back again). I removed that rust w/Rust Remover Navy and small rust spots I removed w/metal brush. It came out rather nice and clean. I was looking for the film on painting. I'm glad I came across this film, very informative, thank you. I have some paint for grills (up to 2000F), I think I can use it. Is it O'K to use that type of paint, or it should be automotive paint strictly? Thank you for you wonderful film again. Very thorough work.

And remember ... the angle grinder doesn't cost much more than the sandpaper does!!
