A Guide To Tremec Manual Transmissions

Not a car guy, but working ony Mustang II. Bought the books and all, to fix it. But you guys think I can drop this in my Mustang II? Or what would be a better option?

What is wrong with Parachute pants, K-car, and the mullet? Where is the video on that? Also why call it a T5Z instead of a T4Z since it appears to only have 4 gears?

Have a 95 GMC Sierra 3500hd and it's got an NV 3500 transmission with a 454 engine if I was to switch to a tremec which transmission do you suggest I use

Is there a special set of pliers for getting the retainer rings off of the speed sensor reluctor wheel? Its easy to get it off of the older style plastic gear with a screwdriver and pliers but its extra tight against the newer style wheel. I want to just keep prying at it with a screwdriver, but i know im just going to end up stabbing myself before i get the darn thing pried free. I have some piston ring pliers, but theyre a bit too large to fit in that space.

Imagine if the emissions era hadn’t happened. The t5 would’ve been awesome

I wonder if one of the Tremec transmissions could be put in my 1981 Mercedes 240d that has a 4 speed manual. My 1964 Ford f250 also has a 4 speed and a 5 speed transmission would be perfect for both of these vehecles.

The main problem with the tko was the brass synchros werent enough for the mass of the gears. Now that thats been changed its pretty much perfect and i bet a lot more expensive too

Is there Tremec T-5 variant that will fit my 84 300zx Turbo? I want to swap from A/T to M/T, but the Borg Warner T-5 has a smaller pilot diameter and spline count (24t) than Ford (10t) or GM 21t). I also wonder if the length of the transmission may be different so the shifter won't line up with the port for the shifter.

T5 was the worst tranny ever made the guy talking shit in musstang 50 the t5 synchronizes crumbled with a short shifter or without I know I've been there had a ton of Mustang foxbodys best car ever made descargar made for 14500 bucks out the door

T56 was used in Aston Martins as well

Nobody mentioned that Jeep used T5s in the CJ. 3rd gear would blow out. I’ve built a bunch of them. Another POS was the Peugeot BA10. Weak knee’d piece of French junk. These used a rearward facing synchros and the locking sleeve is inside rather than sliding over the outside like most other transmissions. Shift gates were prone to breaking also.

C’mon guys…adding one gear is nice, but never gonna double mileage….

i am a retired transmission rebuilder for the last 45 years. i have built 1000s of all of them. the T5 was put in, S10 pu trucks, mustangs, firebirds, Camaros, i have even built them in Nissan 300ZX, they were easy to build and i made a lot of $$ bread on them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I never liked the notchy, clunky shifter on the t56. I switched to a silky smooth CD009 nissan box.
