Hell a lot of this is because a lot of modern depictions of modern dragons vs wyverns has been vastly influenced by outside sources such as Dungeons and Dragons and it's constituant worlds and lore. Even that bs about breathing ice or poison as opposed to flame comes from DnD. Now if you have a wyvern that's not part of that setting in anyway, you still get idiots trying to define it by those standards because they never bothered to learn the reason behind it. A wyvern is like a Honda Civic and the 6 limbed dragon is an Acura TL. Different styles of the same damn thing.

Thumbnail is incorrect. Neither of those are a dragon.

Simple since this are just mythical and not real they should just change their characteristics in terms of numbers of legs and their size.. Most of the famous movie dragons like smaug and GOT dragons should no longer be classified as wyvern bec of their size and how they breath fire.. They are also not a poisonous creature. in george rr martins books there is place where wyverns exist and this are not the movie dragons..

I Prefer The versions of the Dragons with 2 wings and 4 legs like the ones from Dungeons And Dragons.
