this reminds me of my childhood in the country - "sit & watch the empty tracks" was a lot of what I did - my german great great grandfather died on those same tracks when he was hit by the train crossing the horses into the field. I can't remember the story quite right - it was either him or his horse that was deaf...😏 It must've been the horse...❤ I used to run away from my house to sleep in the old barn that was for the field horses - found a coyote sleeping in my spot...lol!
