I met Richard on maiden voyager his 747 on Christmas day in the 80s when it flew from Gatwick to Nen Nevis and back.

He's old but he's done very well for himself. He's invested in ideas and people, and tried to make them work. Obviously he didn't do it with the intent of losing money on those investments, but that's how business is. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn and if you're young enough and have time left, you can come back up again.
Besides, you're not going to take anything with you when you die, so why not take certain calculated risks and give it a try.

Hyperloop isn't a bad idea because of terrain, but because of the very large vacuum system.

I always have to commend the one who is brave enough to take that risk. Lots of people talk about it but rarely do they actually do it. Every business takes risk in starting out. There is no crystal ball to look into. I think Musk is the same kind of guy but a more successful one. I still wish Branson well.

FYI... hyperloops don't work. creating a vacuum over hundreds of miles is impossible. this is an idea that was created in the early 1900's and has consistently failed for over 100 years. wish branson did a little googling before he sunk a fortune into hyperloop.
