Use leather and compound to get your hooks super sharp
Ответить3.45pm. as quite a new comer to carp fishing i am finding your video's brilliant could watch all day and as a pensioner i can, love all the different information I've even started to have a go at making my own rigs, just one question does it cost anything to subscribe? Please keep all the information coming and i also enjoy watching you fish, thanks Gwen.
ОтветитьStraight forward talking and honesty, brilliant!
ОтветитьAp bivvy that
ОтветитьWould a permanent marker over the tip not work better than the vaseline?
ОтветитьI'm a outdoors man aswell as a fishermen and every knife I buy its sharpened sometimes with only a ceramic stone and then pastes and leather, then it can become what a knife should be,depending on the blade material you can stroke a hair off your head across the blade and it will cut it,try it if you think your knifes sharp
ОтветитьI was watching your OCD with hooks sharpening 😂just pulling your leg but listening to you explain the difference in the hook's diameter I understand but would a barbless hook not be better and sharper and the lack of a barb would lesson the sticking point as you call it,I've changed to barbless because of fishery rules and not looked back
ОтветитьBrillant, always learning
ОтветитьHas Adam or anyone else had a good experience when using the flouroshield.. It’s something I’m looking at, but I’m curious about how good it is ..
ОтветитьA slicker penetration. That's what she said. 😂
ОтветитьThey all just sound like terrible salesmen now.
Ответить“A scalpel from a battle axe” Legend 👍
ОтветитьI'd love to know Adam's thoughts on the safety of dropping the lead on leadcore with a safety bead.
I've always thought the lead should remain in order to aid the rig to move up to the bead and dislodge it so the rig is able to come free from the leader and mainline. With no lead I feel like it's more difficult for the rig to free itself from the leader.
Any chance to use it as a chod rig?
ОтветитьJust one more comment the split cane rod has always been one of the best fishing rods due to it having the fact that unlike tube rods the more you bent it it became more powerfull Chris Yates always used one i have used one i got in 1970 just look after it and it will last you a lifetime !
ОтветитьStarted fishing in 1946 at 6 years old and learnt that when you used hooks with barbs it was nigh impossible to get the hook out without damage to the fishes mouth after all that was the idea to stop it pulling out Istopped getting barbed hooks about 30 years ago they go in much easier and anyone who is a decent enough angler shouldnt lose to many fish just keep the line tight
Ответитьgoing to tie up that stiff-supple-stiff double Albright rig. I'm really curious if it would work for a chod portion as well. guess I'll find out.
update I finally got it. in the video however it was mentioned a minor change for bottom baits. can anyone explain? don't think I caught it in the video.
I love Adam
The way he explains and talks about stuff it's so in detail and direct you could never not understand what his on about
Quality angler and a real inspiration for me 💯
my mate said is hook was,nt sharp after 4 carp i told him but the hook on your bottom lip and i drop the lead. lucky it was barbless
ОтветитьZ
ОтветитьWell Adam what can i say. I sharpened a hook like this 1 year ago. I did not use thst rig until my last session. It caught me my PB of 46.12lb and several other 30lb carp in what was to be the best session of my entire life. The hook actually stayed sharp for the whole session and is still razor sharp now. Unbelievable.
ОтветитьIf that hook isnt sharp or turned over nothing works as it should, so important to have a few hand files. Good video
ОтветитьThanx, Nice
ОтветитьLast year my dad died during lockdown and I was off work. Listening to Adam Penning was a godsend. Thank you!
ОтветитьThis any good for bringing back hooks after a session for a second go?
Don’t see the point in sharpening for the sake of sharpening, but if I ccan justify the cost of hook sharpening kit for the money I’d save on hooks by getting 2 gose out of them it might be worth it.
Do you worry about the chemicals off the permanent marker ?? Like do you think the fish can smell it ?
ОтветитьI’ve been carping on and off for 20 years and I always thought it was JRC not JAG???
Ответить“Way too many rigs!!! “ that line got me, ok I’m in👍
ОтветитьNo Bullshit Bloke. Followed Adam for years. Makes the so called Big Boys look like beginners with the amount of marketing shite they come out with.
ОтветитьAbsolutely BRILLIANT.
ОтветитьWhat do you think of Berkeley Trilene mono
Ответитьso, you got a brand new hook, that's been chemically sharpened at the factory, so lets shave some of the strength off that hook? uh huh.
ОтветитьAll that’s needed is jelly wire for everything bye
ОтветитьTbh there’s no reason hook companies shouldn’t be able to make them like that already
ОтветитьSo Adam what hooks are you suggesting? I do like the Korda wide gape, so I suppose you could just ben the hook slightly out beaked style?
ОтветитьHook points snapping off after sharpening... Yes it happens, it all depends on what material the hooks are made from and how they are tempered, please don't tell anyone they are talking B/S if they tell you they have seen it happen, it is the simplest part of metallurgy, also, don't go mad with pressure when you start with the file, those files bend under pressure and cause a massive flat or divot where you don't want it, try changing to a set of small sharpening stones if you are struggling to get the shape right and always finish with a wet fine stone, either oiled or watered to get that final polish (unless you want to go ultra and use a leather strop for a mirror finish)
ОтветитьWhere can I buy these ready sharpened
ОтветитьKeep it simple ....
Like the carp ...😉
52min before he said it!!! I was smerking like a little kid from the beginning! 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьBerkley makes good monolines but there braid sucks.
ОтветитьI'm new to the sport and have learnt a lot cheers for a great video
ОтветитьWith a curved hook I have used this session I seem to have lost a few fish and all I can put it down to is the hook hold. Yes it's curved and acts like a corkscrew but that's only the side of the curve. So if the curve is left of the hook is left then it only offers good hook hold to the left of the mouth where the curve is facing but if the carp sucks it from the right side of his mouth, yes on a swivel so it turns freely but if the curve of the hook is in one direction then the hook hold is only going to be good in the side of the curve not the opposite as it would course movement?
ОтветитьFascinating! Adam referred to a prototype sinking braid. Has this come onto the market, to anyone's knowledge?
ОтветитьAwesome, given me lots of inspiration thanks 👍🏻
ОтветитьWill put my money on Korda making a hook sharpening kit now lmao
ОтветитьAdam 'the adjective' Penning.
ОтветитьJust talks... doesn't show. Might aswell read a book
ОтветитьTerry hearn the man . But Adam got the ins and outs nailed....
