Ahh Saban... He knew good television. We owe our childhood to him.
Go go jew-ranger!
And that's not racist either when you know the backstory.
Go watch fact fiend.
The show always restored the status quo at the end of the sagas… And the characters are incredibly dumb. I know it’s a saturday morning cartoon for toddlers, but Spider-Man and Batman TAS were smarter than that.
ОтветитьLike 🎉🎉🎉😊tv
ОтветитьThe voice acting is also awesome as well.
ОтветитьI always hated that cartoon in the 90’s. The animation and voice acting were atrocious, even by 90’s standards, and this was further highlighted by how GOOD the one-off “Pryde of the X-Men” was in both those aspects. Pryde just served as a reminder of how good the 90’s X-Men cartoon could’ve been, but never was.
ОтветитьANY REAL X-MEN FAN: the apex was when HUGH JACKMAN got involved. 🙄🙄
ОтветитьX-Men will never have a good live action adaptation, at least not while Disney has its rights.
ОтветитьI grew up reading the comics for 30 years
The movies were always just ok
Finally watched this animated show
Wow, these captured the charm of the characters and storylines WAY better than the movies
Many thanks for the kind words, Brian. Making good comics stories work on TV was always a terrific challenge. It's gratifying to discover that some viewers got what we were trying to do. ERIC LEWALD, Showrunner, X-Men:TAS.
ОтветитьKudos man, great video ✌🏻
ОтветитьOne Man's Worth, so dope.
ОтветитьEverything was better in the 90s
ОтветитьFox screwed up Days of future past and in amazing fashion managed to mess up the Phoenix saga twice thats pathetic like they couldn't even get simple details right like the Phoenix being its own entity and not some dormant Jean Grey power its such a waste and don't get me started of how they did Bishop.🤦🏿♂️😅
ОтветитьThe movie was trash.
ОтветитьThe Final Solution, Season 1 finale. The X-Men learn the full extent of the Sentinel threat, and attack their base. There's a scene where each member has to choose weather or not they wish to fight this mission. Gambit is the holdout, but Wolverine convinces him by being vulnerable in front of the team for the first time by telling him how much it means to him to be an X-Man. Great drama, stakes, action, writing....the best episode.
Best quote from the episode.
"The brave are always the first to die." - Magneto.
The animated series did do a far superior job at adapting the stories than the movies. That is beyond dispute as the movies demonstrate no love for the source material at all. That said, having Jean live is like doing an adaptation of Othello and having Desdemona live. That is not the story and robs it of one of the concluding elements that gives it such punch.
ОтветитьWhat I remember most about this saga is how Jean's voice actress sound like she's about to orgasm while on screen Jean is "supposed" to be in excruciating pain. lol. I have to believe that somewhere she got her wires crossed in her brain. seriously guys, go back and watch that scene when Jean is piloting the shuttle. Her moans were so suggestive that My mother actually thought I was watching porn. lol When the show came back from commercial and picked up where Jean left off My mother was like confused AF. lol.
ОтветитьThat’s the one tricky spot with an X-Men movie plan is that a lot of what the X-Men is, is that long form character heavy serialized fiction, so for the MCU I don’t know how they could possibly try to satisfy that with movies given long production cycles and aging actors. Another challenge for the MCU version of the X-Men will be trying to get everyone to not just do “Wolverine and Friends” like Fox did and even when they did, Jackman’s Wolverine character-wise did not resemble Wolverine in the comics, so there’s a lot of work to be done with these characters in the MCU.
ОтветитьThe realization that Jim Shooter had is what the creators of Doctor Strange lacked, the dark Phoenix Saga is very similar to Wanda's capitulation, but the movie fails to make wanda atone for her crimes instead it tries to pass her of has a victim
ОтветитьGreat work! Really loving these.
ОтветитьIn the video you point out that animation was one of the elements of this show that was lacking. True, that is true, however if you compare it with Batman TAS that is a very unfair comparison. The budget Batman TAS was getting completely dwarfed that of the X-Men TAS. So you can't make comparisons like that between a show that got over $200 000/episode at one point - Batman TAS - with a show that never got more than a few thousand dollars per episode - X-Men TAS. This being said however, while the animation kind of lacked, the character design on the other hand was absolutely top notch. Better than those of Batman TAS and not just slightly better either. By quite a lot. Personally I think that those who made this show did a better job with the resources they received than anyone else could have done. The only thing that I can find flaw with in this series is the fact that they always had Wolverine, my favorite, get his ass handed to him LOL 🤣🤣
ОтветитьCyclops chose to ignore the fact that Madelyn Pryor was a clone of Jean may not make him likable but it defiantly made him relatable. Clones will be most popular accessory anyways.
ОтветитьNew sub 💙+1
ОтветитьIt was heartwarming that they gave a part of their life force to let her live. That was great deviation choice on the part of the writing staff.
ОтветитьThe xmen movies suck relative to this cartoon
ОтветитьThe only episodes I hated were the Phoenix saga. I hated the two movies as well. It’s not a good story and that’s why it sucks.
ОтветитьI would actually say the animation for the X-Men was better than the Batman series. I love the Batman series, but they put so much effort into the animation of The X-Men and it paid off. That's my opinion.
ОтветитьI gotta say I prefer the 90’s spider-man a lot more.
ОтветитьHere on the Balkans, Fox Kids skipped certain episodes when airing the show and the Phoenix saga was among them. I only found it decades later when I decided to rewatch the show online. We definitely had episodes before and after that such as "Savage Land, Strange Heart" part 1 (they never aired part 2) and "Love in Vain". We also had "Out of the Past" (only part 1), and "Obsession", but none of the episodes inbetween
ОтветитьNailed it. The MCU should pay close attention to this video.
ОтветитьBest superhero animated series
ОтветитьThe art was great it’s just the animation was inconsistent from episode to episode
ОтветитьShouldn't have let some pedo direct a movie like X-Men..
ОтветитьX-men, Spider-Man army’s crossover was epic!
ОтветитьGreat video. You said that the Phoenix "destroyed a Solar system". I may have missed something there but unless it's alternative universe, she can't destroy the solar system as that's our system. It's our sun that is named Sol and where our systems name comes from. Just something I heard somewhere and thought I'd share.
ОтветитьHow they did Cable was excellent. He was ok in Deadpool but in the series still one of my favorite characters in TV
ОтветитьThis show needs to be released on Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray. Just imagine the artwork for the covers. Plus it could even get a special box set for each series and limited edition steelbooks that have this cool embossing.
ОтветитьI've said this before, if they were gonna do a dark Phoenix movie, it had to be a trilogy, there's so much shit going on in that story to cut it to one movie to do it justice and they fucked it up both times
ОтветитьIt still gets me misty eyed when Cyclops thinks he’s lost Jean forever at the end of the first Phoenix saga.
ОтветитьI think the first few episodes of season 2 with Morph are the best episodes.
ОтветитьActually my favorite episodes were the ones that adapted "The Phalanx Covenant" comic. It was awesome and it really instilled a sense of paranoia about who was human and who was infected in a race against time to both stop The Phalanx and prevent mutants from being assimilated. The fact it forces a rag-tag alliance between Hank, Sinister, and Magneto is a highlight.
It was basically "The Thing" but for kids.
I always loved the cartoon's Days of Future Past with the Sentinals. It was the first time I read the comic and then saw it in the show and it was just about as cool as I thought it should be.
ОтветитьAnd it sold toys.
Ответитьyeah, but the thing is that the DCAU comes into play
ОтветитьThis show inspired Capcom to make X-Men: Children of the Atom for the arcades, Sega Saturn, and Sony Playstation via the CPS2 board.
ОтветитьI love the X-Men tas more than almost any other show. I especially love both the Phoenix & Dark Phoenix saga. I just hope to SOME DAY see a decent live action adaptation of them both.
ОтветитьI loved all the stuff with Morph
Ответить"a fraction of their life force"
but wolverine is right there!
The 90s indeed was the greatest period for animated comic book shows: "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Batman: the Animated Series," the short lived "Silver Surfer" series and of course, this beaut.
ОтветитьFun fact; in the comic, the Dark Phoenix is actually possessed by a clone of Jean Grey. The real Jean was thought to be dead, but plot armor brought her back.
Comic Books: retconning everything if someone wants to change it.
