10 Books You Need To Read in 2023

Here's some sci-fi for you:

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy (easy read, must read)

The Martian (fast easy fun read)

Project Hail Mary (fast easy fun read)

Dune (Classic, read at least book 1. Book 1-4 of the main series are good, some of the peripheral books can absolutely be skipped)

Hyperion (Read at least book 1. But if you read book 1 you probably want to read the rest)

Foundation (Read at least book 1. Book 1 had a very big scope for its time, the rest of the series is not as revolutionary but a good story)

Behave by Robert Sapolsky by far my favorite book of all time - it's a big book but I think based on your personality and that you seem to have an enjoyment for learning about various topics, this book could be enjoyable. It's a neuroscience book that explains why people do what they do.

Nate, you've indicated an interest in history, finance, and philosophy, if you're still looking for works of fiction I would recommend the Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson, an epic read in length and scope, but I suspect it is right up your alley.

i read this book called midnight library. and it is an easy fiction book. it is about a 35 year old woman who isn't happy with her life. and she tries to end her life but in between life and death, she tries out different lives. what would have happened if she made different choices. i thought it was insightful if you want to read fiction

Thanks Nate, I love book lists! My favorite fiction book so far in 2023 has been "All That Is Mine I Carry with Me" by William Landay, who also wrote the excellent book "Defending Jacob." Both are very good books, in my opinion (and I'm pretty picky).

I now read books with lots of pictures and less than 200 pgs.

I'm just finishing reading "Your Money or Your Life" written in 1992 by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin, and found that it's had a huge impact on opening my eyes about the way I look at money and work and the way I look at how I spend my own valuable time. It's in line with some of the things I see here on your channel, and I think you may like it. Happy reading!

Check out Devil in the White City and Dead Wake (both written by Erik Larson)

For fiction books I liked, "where the Crawdads sing" and "The Four Winds". The first book is a bit of everything; mystery, romance, nature, etc. The second book is a historical fiction about the depression and the dust bowl. Thanks for the recommendations! These are definitely books I wouldn't think to read and would love to check out!

The one fiction book that I read last year that I really loved is The Night In Lisbon. It's about a guy who's dealing with the second world war with his wife and it's just fascinating to know how people dealt with war back then.

Do you think someone from Spain can find applicable insights in that book about taxes? I know some lines may be useful but not sure I can find enough value in it
