ОтветитьAn inexpensive infrared thermometer gun will allow you to scan wiring and components quickly for hot spots so you can repair them before disaster strikes in many situations. It will also allow you to test newly installed wiring, connections and components for potential issues. They are $20 to $30 online.

ОтветитьSeveral months ago I watched a video of a Marina employee walking around each slip using a thermal image camera checking the power cord connection (hull inlet) to the boats. If the connection was beyond the normal heat allowance he would call the owner. It was surprising how many boats had faulty power couplings.
A survey conducted a few years ago indicated that 55% of all fires aboard recreational vessels are electrical in nature, and 11% of those begin in AC shore-power wiring and appliances. By contrast, only 8% are caused by fuel leaks and only 1% by galley stoves.
Will your new breaker also act as a surge protector?
Do you have earth from shore into the boat, and if so, is it connected to the outlets and consumers around the boat like the hot water tank, engine and battery charger and so on? Would be intresting to hear more about this topic :)
ОтветитьGreat video, In addition to your new panel would you consider adding an isolation transformer if not already equipped with one
ОтветитьI have two arc fault circuit breakers in an 8-year old 200 amp elec panel in my basement. Each serves the electrical outlet in the full bathrooms in my home. The electrical outlet in each bathroom is a Ground Fault Circuit interrupter. These were installed by a licensed electrical contractor 8 years ago, and were installed to meet building codes since we were renovating one of our 50 year-old bathrooms, and replacing the electrical service entering our home. Our home is 100% copper wiring. :¬) Webhead USA
ОтветитьALWAYS GREAT
