Thank you for your authentic inquiry. I appreciated your description of awakening, then finding similar tales in Grof's book. I often wish there was crash course to relevant science literature, especially from dream/hypnosis literature. Dreams are quite psychedelic in their own right, cause real effects on real lives, and have been studied and practiced within Western culture for all recorded history. Yet, we are biased against them, therefore we privilege experiences caused by material things like drugs or spacecraft because they seem more real to our materialist eyes. I often what would have happened if Mack turned to dream/hypnosis research, not only to transpersonal psychedelic research, to inform the accounts of contact that were associated with sleep and dream states. Mack declared these experiences to not be dreams, even though his original experiencers protested that they were dreams, he hypnotized his subjects to believe they experienced "ontological shock" and that their dreams were historically real events (see the first definition of ontological shock in Abduction). I wonder what would have happened if Mack had accepted his experiencer's own assessments that the experiences were dreams and real. However, most people in the UAP Disclosure and Experiencer communities now reject the notion that Mack even performed hypnosis, such as Whitely Strieber or Danny Sheehan on the Danny Jones podcast, which is bizarre to me because Mack's book is quite clear. Once again, thank you for your clear and brave voice on this topic.

Some specific kinds of psi phenomena are normal, mutually shared experiences that can easily be empirically corroborated but we're being gaslit by a social tier who manage the state/global intelligence infrastructure for the purpose of preserving the privilege and powers these abilities confer. The bewildered masses are always on the fringes of these experiences by design. Hence the enduring popularity and utility of religion. There's a natural, intrinsic but latent ability in everyone but more importantly there's also this enormous unnatural infrastructure for control built upon that dormant foundation.

The Truth, Reality comprehensively, recedes from reach/grasp...Probably that metaphor tells us plenty about the problem. We cannot grasp asif to own Truth-Reality with either a literal hand or the structures of the Left Brain. We're trained by Darwinian fitness and now modernity to over-privilege our Left Brains and utility/instrumentality.
