The current UK planning laws were invented to stop people exactly like him, living in old railway carriages etc, after WW2 when thousands of people lost their homes. Even Wales, which so say "encourages" off-grid living, has strict regulations around it. I admire him for being wiling to keep fighting the bureaucracy.

We got the same shit goin' on here in the United States & I am living off grid & building a nice cottage but, without the expensive amenities that break the bank each month.. no Wi-Fi, electricity, home phone, gas, water & heat bills to pay.. just my raw earnings & a cell phone, side line heat & a lantern with an outhouse is all I need right now & so far I'm doin' okay.. some days are harder than others but, I survive & got extra money to actually pay for the materials as I go & build my small place into more if a home with added space & OWN it outright!
So far, GOD has blessed me with no body harassing me about permits & other extortion by mandating fees & other nonsense bullshit permits & fees & licenses in order to build, live, eat & shit without them benefiting or, rapung me of my hard earned money.. so, I pray 2024 brings more prosperity & success in accomplishing my own little paradise. & Castle.. so, bless you too buddy & job well done!

Like in your case, Eddie, the government wants to build an expressway, Oh, look here, Wal Mart wants to build a new store selling loads of junk. Government swoops in, you get a letter in the mail, next thing you know, your home gets cut in two, or survey markers right off your front porch, through your vegetable garden (that feeds your family), they do Not care, only care about what they will get out of it.
