Makes me wonder how much stuff is in landfills that could have been repaired or recycled by a little patience and creativity.

Original JB WELD is super strong and will permanently fix it better than any super glue. Although primarily designed for metal it is unbelievability for plastic as well.

I would say it's still worth fixing if you like doing it and have a bit of time. Even from a sustainability standpoint.

I have a plastic piece that broke. It houses a pretty strong spring for tension in order to “fold” back the bottom of a leg on a bassinet so it will fit in its carrying case. Would this be a strong enough solution? Already have checked in with the manufacturer for a replacement part - not available.

For me it wouldn't be a 100$ repair: only the cost of the rod+epoxy, and for the rest the cost would be some leisure time of mine.. xD... More generally, the right to repair is not only a right of ownership over what you buy, but also a right to better our environment.

I used JB Weld on my car's dash to repair and plug a hole left over from my radio being ripped out of my car by someone that needed my radio more than I did. (AKA Thieves). I was young, and had limited money, so a new dash was out of the question. So I had a musical horn control panel that would fit in the hole where a piece went with the radio. JB Weld was my choice to get everything to hold together. It worked and, years later, I was wishing that I had used something not quite as durable when I had to remove the worn out control panel. LOL.

Oh No !! I should have discovered it 2 weeks earlier. I was fixing a handle I broke on my miter saw because a replacement part was not available. I can't get a new replacement part because the manufacturer no longer makes the saw or spare parts for this model. I used some epoxy but it did not hold. So finally went the route of making a new wooden handle with a new threaded rod.
Two lessons learnt - one the trick of using "rebar" alongwith epoxy and second always first check "what would Matt do"?
This is very relevant in the shop and around the house - so many times fixes are needed not because something is cheap but because it may sentimental value or part of system that is more valuable and spares are not easily avaialble.
Please keep sharing and teaching us valuable techniques. Thanks for everything.

Very helpful with the rebar! Will try this tomorrow. Gonna be heading off some crack on a 20 year old Honda riding lawn mower dual bagging plastic cover. It’s on hinges and needs some reinforcement with JB WELD Epoxy Plastic, fiberglass cloth and aluminum mat.

When the handles of a drill press were missing, I made knobs from jb weld on threaded stock. A little sanding and paint...they have lasted for over 20 years so far and look correct. Nice video, thanks.

I have a pair of broken plastic brackets for my Chevy Avalanche toneau covers. Tried a fix with Gorilla glue, didn't work. Will try a second time (I know the second time is never a charm) with JB weld & rebar.
