For wood, fiber and berries my first choice is the tickle chicken. If you focus on melee it's really great. It just breezes through a forest. And best of all it's one tame for three different resources.
As for thatch the wyvern wins hands down. It's just so OP.

Male magaloceros gather lots of thatch and they hop around with high jumps to get away from enemies the females dont gather I think never tested the females

Wyvern collecting thatch is probably easiest the wing move harvests trees in a radius

The roll rat, from aberration, and the mammoth ,gather wood the same amount as a castoroides, but the roll rat has an 80% weight reduction on wood and the mammoth has a 75% weight reduction, according to the ARK wiki. However, they are less mobile than the castoroides, because it can be carried by an argentavis. So it depends, if you live in or near to an area densely packed with trees, a mammoth or roll rat is the way to go, but if you need to travel a bit for wood, the beaver is the better option, it still takes wood for a 50% weight reduction and can be carried by fliers. Well the roll rat and the mammoth can be carried by the quetzalcoatlus , but they are very slow. The roll rat is a lot more mobile than the mammoth and carries wood for slightly less weight than the mammoth, but roll rats only spawn on aberration and that map is a nightmare to transfer off. They are all good ways to gather wood, so do what you think is best for your scenario.

Hi Pterafier, love the vid! Another tip: Not only does the mining drill gather resources faster, but it also gives 75% weight reduction to wood, stone and metal, while in the players hand. Have another player pick you up with an Argentavis or Quetzal and fly around with the mining drill instead of an anky or other harvesting dino, and you'll gather resources like never before

For me the BEST way to get thatcg (it gets you a solid 10000-20000 thatch in like one minute . Is to get a trike upgrade its weight and speed and then go into a forest area and charge up your trike. Then let go of it and it will run into all of the trees and knock em all down.

How do u make the anky harvest other resources like crystal and obsidian? Bc my anky only harvests metal

Don’t sleep on the S+ Tech Transmitter for late game. It operates as a beacon without power. Slap that baby down and empty the weight from the dino into the Ark Data cloud. I do this all the time.

Early on for thatch go tame a moschop, they’re a passive tame so it’s super easy and they get you a nice amount of your just starting off

Ankys are much less painfully slow in the water. Don't overlook that if you have decent coastal metal spots.

The fastes way to get wood is by having a raft and a therezino on the raft in the swamp, black box in official in like 5minutes with someone helping you

Don't know if anyone said so already, but a wyvern gathers thatch (or cactus sap) with the crouch command, and can carry gathering dinos; it may not be able to carry as much, but flies faster than an argy.

For thatch I use a trike . Go to a dense patch of trees , charge to full and ram through them all . you got like 5 k thatch in 10 seconds. also sorry but the doedy has 75% weaight reduction so it means it can carry 300% more stone, not 75%.

And courtesy of gen 2, the stryder is THE best for all, maybe the others gather slightly more per node. But the stryder gets a ton super quickly. And because of the race missions on gen 2 you can get a low level stryder with a mining rig pretty easily

I like flying around on my pteranodon to get resources that are far away like obsidian and metal but it’s always too heavy do you have any suggestions to upgrade pteranodon and if not do you have and tame suggestions that can easily get around and carry a lot of weight

I think the magmasaur is better gathering metal than an anky even with an argie, I know that the magmasaur is really hard to get , I got mine on lost island, but it has so many weight capacity that it really overpowers the anky imo, you can even smelt on it but I am in the industrial era now so for me it would be slow.

I normally use a Quetzal, an Argy and two ankies to gather iron. (4k iron per trip)

You do have to go out of your way to tame a mantis but are they damn good at getting flint especially with a good pic

I take the tek stryder by a resource I want to gather (especially metal) and I’ll use the whip on it to move it to resource nodes and harvest way over its weight.

Mammoth has 75% weight reduction on wood instead of 50% that beavers have, and a higher weight capacity. I prefer the mammoth for that reason. The chainsaw is annoying because you get overweight so fast, maybe I should try it while riding a ravager..

No need to stop near stone for doed, just let your argy attack the stone, unlike said argy won't destroy stone
