ОтветитьCoincidentally my daughter is studying Medicine in the UK (just finished 4th year) and is now here in Japan on a 4 week internship at a Medical school. It's interesting to see your perspective about Tokyo. I've been living here for 25+ years so it seems normal to me now, but there is a definite culture shock for visitors from Europe or the USA. Everything is clean, safe and efficient, but oddly different. Anyway, enjoy your time in Tokyo, maybe I'll pass you in the street sometime.🙂
ОтветитьOmg! Welcome to Tokyo from Japanese listener! ❤
I hope you have a good experience in Japan 🍣

ОтветитьCongrats to get to do clinical rotation in Japan. I currently have two kids in US medical school now. My daughter is about to finish her 1st year and my son is about to finish his second year med school after getting their BS degree in biology. Their final exams are this week. They will have a summer off, but my son needs to take his national board exam and volunteer to do intern with the doctor this summer. My daughter will do a research in Hospital. So, they don't have a whole summer break. I never heard American medical students can go to other countries for their final year. First and second year are in classroom or self study with in person lab. Third and fourth year are clinical rotation. Then, apply for residency for either 3 years to 6 years depending on your specialty. Both of them have a master degree too. US medical school is not just studying alone and want to be any specialty. You need to do research during medical school too to get accepting to residency like surgery or something. Plus, a second year national board exam is a key to go to a tough specialty.
