Such great content. Thanks !
ОтветитьNot to take away from Tim"s Dad's 50 lb weight loss success but IF people are using Ozempic (not saying Tims Dad is using Ozempic) I wish they would say vs. "I did ....". Basing this on a recent comment by Jason Calacanis. And then hearing JC on an entrepreneur clip that he cut out 500 calories a day.... without mentioning talking Ozempic or saying why now he was able to do what he previously had not despite years of attempts and all the $ possible to throw at the problem.
It is a conundrum....you don't want to discourage people for whom these drugs are not an option for whatever reasons but then it can perpetuate the mental aspect of "Why can't I do what others can?". FYI, I dont have this struggle because I have many strict rules with food boundaries for health and long term recovery from chronic food addiction. For me, there is no mental argument because it's not an option. Exercise.....was a loose rule and now a continual struggle despite my experience and knowledge.
How can I get on Shane Parrish and Tim Ferriss email list?
Can anyone help me out
KEY TAKEAWAY:
Set rules for yourself, and then you don't have to rely on willpower.
My wife and I recently made a rule not to have any alcohol in the house. Now I only drink 1-2 glasses per week vs nightly.
get better intro music dude that is awful
ОтветитьWhat was Shane Parish's evergreen podcast eiposde? I can't find the moment he talks about it...
ОтветитьI'm only have through, but this one (again) has so many treasures in it. Thank you for sharing, Tim!
ОтветитьLove the tips for separating meetings for new projects into two: Identifying the Problem & Discussing a Solution (and asking "And then what?"). I'm going to implement this at work! Thanks!
ОтветитьThanks, Tim and Shane! The nuanced perspectives on decision-making were insightful and out of the box.
Ответить"Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" -- makes sense to see this from military folk. I first encountered it in a Wilderness First Responder course as we were learning how to think through medical crises far from truly professional help...and it's also totally aligned with Shane's earlier point about truly defining the problem in one meeting, but deciding on course of action in another. Allocating adequate thinking time to the problem at hand is an under-appreciated strategy. It still pays to have a bias toward action -- but don't short-circuit the opportunity for reflection. "Sleeping on it" often adds so much value by allowing the subconscious all that time to bring up objections and improvements...sleep on it, then act. Thank you both for some great new strategies to explore in my own life.
ОтветитьAbsolutely loved this episode ❤
Thank you Tim and Shane
Fanfuckingtastic
ОтветитьThis was literally my childhood lol dirt bikes and all
Ответитьhim saying that cognitive biases are mostly only identifiable in hindsight as a post mortem pretty much devalues most of the content he puts out
ОтветитьThis is a Guru talk. Love it. Felt they were sitting next to each other than online. Another great one here.
ОтветитьI agree with what they say about education here being too easy. Often they are lowering the standards to hit the standards. VS pushing or teaching people to hit the standards. This isn’t just with schools. It’s police, fire departments many businesses
ОтветитьFantastic episode between Tim and Shane, Shane and the Farnam Street Learning Community are a great wealth of actionable information. I've been a member for years and it is worth every single penny.
ОтветитьEspecially enjoyed the insights about challenging kids, thanks for the conversation!
ОтветитьI love Tim's emails, glad to be on the list 😉
ОтветитьShane and Tim are both Indian parents w.r.t. schooling their kids, without knowing it ! 😉
ОтветитьLove those rules… 🙌🏻🔥💪🏻
ОтветитьLove the question Tim asks, “why is writing important instead of just Chapgbt?” And like Shane’s answer.
ОтветитьLex Fridman just had the very first podcast on Meta Augmented Reality and I cant wait for podcasts like this to adopt that mode of communication in the future!
ОтветитьHigh-interest rates, better opportunity for stock pickers and maybe international stocks. Also a good time to hold bonds/cash waiting for corrections.
ОтветитьOoo two of my favorites
ОтветитьBrilliant as always Love the "Rules" idea
ОтветитьAll roads lead to Naval.. ain' that the truth. How interesting to hear about the backstory of that episode!
Also, I've been dreaming for this episode to happen & wow... it's here. Two podcast GOATs for me. And it doesn't hurt that they could pass as brothers lol
It's really cool to see a fellow Intel analyst bringing exceptional wisdom to the masses 🔥
Thank you Tim for this awesome conversation 🙏
Yes! Been hoping for this guest!
ОтветитьWhy even after being so so great Tim is underrated?
I mean just why? He is a legend for sure.
Books! take me to that dimension!
Enid Blyton’s the ‘Far Away Tree’ and the ‘Wishing Chair’ completely off topic, childhood favs for any age. 😊
Here before Tim’s X notification. This is great content.
ОтветитьI love how Shane asks questions back. Shows it's not all about him, that he's interested. A lot to learn here.
ОтветитьPshh, I don't have blind spots
