I discovered that have migraines from new ips displays. So i think that there some another problem, except pwm. For example realme c 55, honor 8a etc – like welding to my eyes.

I hate samsung phones. They have always hurt my eyes. Samsung tablets are the same. Whether Samsung tablet or phone, Samsung devices always cause my eyes to hurt. I don't even think about Samsung phones or devices when I am thinking about buying a phone. There is something about samsung devices that my eyes cant endure.

Companies are keeping this matter secret for their own benefit. The cost of manufacturing OLED screens is low. People do not understand this matter.
Anyone who suffers from migraines or depression should change their phone to the iPhone 11 and will see their health will improving

I will publish a study soon on the reason for the large number of suicides in South Korea. One of the reasons is the large amount of depression caused by AMOLED screens.
because South Korea only has AMOLED screens for all device !!!

This poblem has been solved by Chinese screen factory.I don't know why western world look down on eye health.Eyes protect has been the most important feather in chinese smartphone.2K+LTPO+non-flicker+low blue-ray+10bit and good color+low power = chinese flagship smartphone

i wonder why top tech channels like mrwhosetheboss or mkbhd don't talk about this issue. it's a huge issue. i don't want to believe that they were paid to keep their mouth shut on this. also, if anyone looking for a good LCD phone, take a look at the REalme 9 5G SE. I am using it for about a year, and it's a great device with snapdragon 778g and 6/8 gb ram. camera is not that great, but the performance is amazing

You literally explained that PWM is used to prolong the life expectancy of the diodes at the top of the video... then at the end of the video you act as if DC dimming is the answer... 🤦‍♂️

So there is no solution to that? No App that changes that or anything else? 😕

Although to be fair, voltage regulators are just really fast PWM. But it can cause the display to malfunction at a lower voltage (like CPU).
But you can use "Extra Dim" setting on newer android version to avoid this (it reduces the pixel values instead of using the brightness control)

I had S 21 ultra and I wanted to change the phone, but I knew about PWM, and I understood why I always felt so bad. And although the desire to buy S 23 was great, I took Nothing phone 2 And what was my surprise when I felt that I had no fatigue in my eyes, because this phone does not have such a large PWM although it has an OLED display.

I really need help, i use to have a galaxy A52s and i never had eye strain before, now i upgraded to a s23 and after a month is killing my eyes, sometimes i see a bit blurry everything, so i need to stop looking at the s23 screen for a few minutes and my eyes feels better again, now i need to replace my phone again T.T but which one? The A52s and this s23 supposedly are 120hz oled screens, but they feel way different. Now i need to chose the right one, to upgrade

I actually have a problem with amoled screen flickering , I get headaches after using only half an hour , so Honor 90 with 3840 hz pwm dimming is a solution for me , but I doubt that 3840 hz Pwm dimming technology actually works in reality ?

Even I was a die hard fan of Samsung and already had used 4 Samsung phones in last 8 years . But just 5 months back I got affected with headache dizziness and eye straining even after a few minutes of phone usage. And my doctor suggested me to change the phone . I bought 14 plus afterwards and now am freed from all the hallucinations and headaches. I had opted out 14 pro models considering even it may cause some sort of eye strains. PWM least for 14 plus

I will switch to Xiaom next year if Samsung does not fix this!
DC Dimming or higher PWM Frequency!
Atleast 1920 Hertz!
Xiaomi 13 Ultra now has it!
But i hope Xiaomi also upgrades it higher.
2160 Hertz or even 3125 Hertz that is risk free.
💪😎💪
Honor 90 already has 3840 Hertz?
Even better!
Extra good!
100% zero flicker!
😱
But yeah!
Samsung must fix this!
DC Dimming would be very nice, but it looks bad.
Colours look off.
So higher PWM would be nicer.
If they just could fix DC Dimming too to look better.
😁

Bright, vivid colors can be a strain on the eyes. On iPhone: First set the phone's brightness to 100% (to compensate for the next step which make it darker), Then go to Settings, Accessibility, Display. Set the Reduce whitepoint setting to a high value. This reduces the intensity of bright colors. Myself I use 95%. If you find it too dark you need to use a lower value than 95 %. This brings brightness back.

It is not only PWM. I find that I get problems with screens (both phone and computer) when the colors are too vivid and exaggerated. I just found this today and am testing it: From Android Settings, tap Display, and then tap Screen mode. Tap Natural (or Basic). Don't choose Vivid. Also under Settings, Accessibility, Display there may be some setting affecting color. My Android phone is old so can't check it now.

I tried recording from another phone but I couldn't see the flickering. My eyes would only hurt if I would play mobile games for about 18 hrs without rest - not limited to S23. So I didn't get it why my teammate (iphone user) asked me if my eyes don't hurt yet one time that he had to stop playing when we only played about 3 hrs. Perhaps it depends on different person and the best way out of it is to give your eyes rest. I think it's not only on S23 Ultra or smartphones.

My phone were a Redmi Note 10 5G. I used lot of IPS LCD display on any phone (Nokia 3 2017, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 inches tablet and actual Redmi Note 10 5G). I prefer LCD display to AMOLED or OLED, except if it's 90 or 120 Hz.

Thanks for the explanation. I actually like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra before until I figured out that it has this major flaw, which is a low frequency PWM dimming and its a BIG problem because not all people are suitable for such phones with displays like this. I have a Xiaomi POCO X3 NFC from 2020, it has an IPS LCD, BUT... it has a 2358Hz High frequency PWM dimming at low brightness levels and I've been using it for years now but haven't experienced migraines or anything. I hope Apple and Samsung will use high frequency PWM dimming in their future phones.
