Thanks for covering all the north american rat snakes. And I vote yes on the in-depth video on corn snakes.

Just to clarify on the notion of "black ratsnakes", the term "black ratsnake" technically describes 3 species of snake, as the western ratsnake, eastern ratsnake, and gray ratsnake all have black phases in the northern parts of their range. All the other colors and phases are pretty easy to identify, but it leaves the "black rats" in a tough spot, because of you look at one in a pet store and don't know it's origins, you'll never really know what species it actually is or what it may be mixed with, since these ratsnakes will readily hybridize. Of course, this isn't criticism, just wanted to clear that up. As you've said, their taxonomy is confusing and it can take a bit of learning to understand.

The history of the corn snake is that English settlers would find corn snakes in their corn fields and their belly scales look like the old Native American Corn

I don't know where you are located but I had a HUGE gray rat snake in my barn about a year ago.... eastern NC location.
Usually, I see the black rat snakes (and some pretty hefty ones at that) so this one surprised me and at first was not sure what it was.
I also had a large gorgeous red- belly water snake take up short term residence in one of my rain barrels a couple summers ago.

Its a Texas Rat Snake that new taxonmy is a hack job. I'm not sure why everyone just accepted it. It's shoddy work to obviously just get published

My favorite name for black rat snakes is “cow sucker” which is actually a colloquial name for milk snakes in other places, which I’m pretty sure there were wives tales of them actually sucking on the teats of cows in a barn, even a young kid that seemed dubious at best… can you imagine really thinking that?!?
