When Eric got on the nerves of seemingly everyone that worked on the show, Howard always made sure that things didn't get too out of hand. He appreciated Eric when everyone else on the show didn't get why! Howard's championing of Eric as a recurring segment on the show was one of his best ideas. Howard was never more likeable than when he was treating Eric kindly.
