Roland TD-27 plugged straight into Lyra-8 plugged straight into audio interface. still exploring the Lyra-8. seeing how it works as drum distortion and hooooly crap have I been taking it too far. have I been taking it too far? I love it. I was messing with delay settings, lots of delay feedback making kind of a pure tone, and used that as a kind of chord progression. a basic one, but I dig the effect.

I was thinking this morning that "exploration" is the meekest of Youtube music genres, as it were... it doesn't believe in itself enough to be a piece or song, nor does it manage to be a tutorial... but, as a phase, it's useful, and maybe it gives someone else an idea. plus, I'm ditching Superior Drummer and getting back to strictly edrum brain action, so I'm feeling like a newbie there, too. I've updated the TD-27 to version 2 and I'm getting the feeling the sounds are much more usable, but maybe it's just because I jumped very quickly to vst's after getting my TD-27 ages ago...

was getting Deftones vibes from the sound and feel like things always need a name, even if they are "just explorations..." the Deftones drummer, Abe, was always a huge influence for me, so I just went with that
