We live in the county of Northumberland, it's so beautiful. Crammed with medieval castles and little villages like Corbridge. My cottage is over three hundred years old, the original Roman road, Dere street runs past it.

Very educational. I love the thatched cottages. Central Texas has a lot of German limestone houses that are so cute. I love them all.

I'm afraid that the "cottagecore" movement is just a fad/trend like the farmhouse craze. Even so, I will never give up being in love with the old country homes/cottages. They are/were simple and lived in, never a showplace. I was never a fan of the modern interpretation of farmhouse design. This is not true farmhouse. I know, because I grew up in the country(mostly) and visited in many country homes with my grandmother and not one of them were minimalist or neutral (sterile). I am glad to see this FH style lessening.

So many of these are charming, but I think I'd have to say the Victorian cottages were my favorites, but the TUudor, Coastal, Yorkshire, and Colorful ones were all lovely too.

Regarding the "Colorful" cottages, would they have been colorful when built or changed to be colorful in more recent times? In America, we all have seen neighborhoods where the houses all use the same color pallet but someone will move in and shake things up and add a bright blue or pink.

Thank you for clarifying on the cottage living that it was for the servants , they also picked the clippings from the main garden .

The chocolate box, whether half-timbered or of white or color-washed stone, and whether thatched, tiled, or stone roofed are my favourite. What saddens me, however, is to see interiors turned ultra-modern.

I viewed an oast house that was for sale, the exterior was the lovely round type but the owners had built square rooms within the roundel to house modern furniture!! - I didn't buy.

I have been to the UK about 15 times, usually renting a flat in London and day tripping out to the sites around the countryside. I fell in love with the thatched cottages. I wound up buying a large number of Lilliput cottages because I fell in love with them. Thank you for this video, I enjoyed it very much. Oh and I did fall in love with Bath and the Cotswold...Just lovely ...no wonder Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush call that place home.

In the US many of your examples we wouldn't even call a "cottage". After a certain size and rooms its no longer a cottage. And the ones in the village attached to each other we'd call a town house or row house.

Although I reside in the Midwest USA I found a house built in 1910.. I gutted the house and was delighted to find it was made of walnut. My theme was relaxed English style with lots of browns tans and maroons. Antique furniture when it could be acquired. I planted wisteria around the home and this really gives it that cottage look. I wanted a thatched roof but firecodes made this impossible so when I reroofed the house I chose what I imagined a cottage roof to look like! Naturally I have gardens with fruits and flowers.....but with a relaxed feeling when one comes into the home. There is also a waterfall that came with the house that we enlarged. I have many muched loved items from tag and boot sales......if you look for your colour scheme you are on your way. Go for timeless items and splurge on good rugs. Go for quality on your furniture this will reek English style. Cheers.

Nice video, thanks for that. In addition to the cottages you featured, I'm curious about cottages made of cob. Apparently there are some in England that are several hundred years old. I would like to see more about those.

I lived 50 years in London and in mid nineties I bought two cottages. One in France and one in greater London. The French one is built in granite stone, and as I restored it entirely inside and outside, I tried to give it an English look in both. I bought loads second hand, and made it cosy and comfortable. The cottage in UK is very small. From the outside it has 2 windows up, two down and a wooden door in the middle with a small front garden. By it size it is very cottagey inside, but as it faces North, I keep it pastel. I think some places that you have shown look more like houses to me than cottages, especially the Victorian ones. Lovely program though. Thank you.

In the SouthWest of the United States we often use adobe and stucco however, there are places in the hill country of Texas that is More German than Mexican. In Arizona we find a combination of English and local queried materials. Did I mention that Arizona is home to the original London Bridge? It was dismantled rock by rock and transported to a place called Lake Havasu where it was reassembled on land next to the lake. Once complete, a channel was dug to allow water to flow order the bridge. A cottage style combination can be found in the area to emulate the feel of England.

Very interesting, thank you! I'm not from England, but I really like to watch "Escape to the country" because they show all the beautiful English cottages and I noticed that there are also Georgian houses, which are not in the video. Would be really interesting to hear about their history from you too
