Nice car I had a Shelby 1968 GT500 with a 351 cobra jet engine but it’s paint job was a dark blue metallic with a hearse stick shift I was 18 at the time, and couldn’t afford the insurance after getting a dangerous driving charge for speeding at 130 miles per hour not even the Nova police car could keep up with the car they had a police helicopter in the sky tracking me

That was the first mycelium car I ever drove !! 15 years old on a private runway 428 - 2 x4 bbl auto and blue guy made me wash it after I was supposed to put back in hanger but went left and took down runway !!!! Wow what a car hooked for life !!

If he got both car and motor under 175k he did good

I owned a 67 Mustang, and I am so impressed how far the tech went in less than a year into 1968. Shelby did an outstanding job of picking up Fords slack. When one stands back and think about it, that is a stunning transformation from my 67 in Manual steering/Manual drum brakes/ and air conditioning was a dealer add on. Most likely with a 2 core rad, not the 4 core that was needed. Let alone a trans cooler. Mine was a 289 coup that was tired in 1980.
So much to teach the next generation, we could sit on the fender of the car without damaging it. Can not do that these days with any modern car, and the point of that social experience was it was comfortable to sit on the front fender and socialize. I guess the point I am trying to get across to all “Dennis “ staff, is, you can sit on the fender and not damage it, have a beer and socialize like our generation did, 4 decades ago and socialize.
New cars, all bets are off on that experience. But as a great story teller, it was a great social experience.sorta like the generation that went through the death of the wing window, before air conditioning, I loved the wing window.

I was excited to see the car because it is a blue Gt500.Jim morrisons blue lady is still missing. Morrisons car was wrecked and sold to the insurance company then sold again.

I was wondering if you knew that Ford and International did a lot of work together back in the 60s and in the Fire trucks and the water trucks that international produced the majority of those trucks had the 427 428 429 and sometimes you could find the 350 Boss engines in them. Here in Georgia we find them all the time and you can buy them for nothing

My best buddy's aunt had a Mustang exactly like this one back in the day, she lived in downtown Phoenix. He never did hear what happened to that car after her death. I once owned a 68 GT500KR - the vin was 2 numbers off from this one. The cars are practically siblings - came from Ford at almost the exact same time. Makes me want to find my old Shelby again!
