The Quickest Way To Catch Summer Walleyes

I normally bass fish, but soon I’m going up north and want to try out walleye fishing. I was wondering how I find them without the sonar stuff because I’ll be in a canoe. Does anyone know?

Hi Tom, I have a St Croix 6"10" Med Lite/xtra fast. Would there be a reason to also get the Elliot 7"3" Med Lite/Fast? I am wanting it for Hyper Rattle snap jigging. Thanks for all your wisdom.

I run 8lb mono on a 7' kvd quantum. I lose a pike every now and then jigging, but I have a pretty good catch rate on bass, crappie and anything other than those toothy som bs

Hi Tom, big time follower of your videos here. Coming back to fishing after 14 years away and never fished for Walleye but I'm in an area where I can fish for those now.. The one thing I was not sure about was the leader? So you're going from the braided line to a monofillament leader... Are you just tying those two together or can you run a swivel or something between the two? 10 lb braided, to 10 lb (?) mono then to a clip and then the hyper rattler. Is that correct? Just about got all my ducks in order for this. I thought we might be out there today but something came up but hopefully by next week we'll be out doing this. Thanks again for your amazing college level fishing videos!

Good video but.... driving around looking at your graph and looking for fish is not the best way to do it. Buck Perry is the Father of Structure Fishing and his principles will guide you to more and bigger fish. Not trying to discount what you did here...cool video.

I watched your videos and went on a trip with a bunch of buddies to the boundary waters in Minnesota. Brought my Lowrance with me to put on the rental boats and used this exact technique on basswood lake. First trip I’ve ever really “targeted” walleye and ended up landing a 8.3 pound 30 1/2” walleye! Among other fish of course but I just wanted to send a shout out and a thank you!

So are you looking for a certain water temp before you snap jig? Or are you looking for eyes at a certain depth?

So if you do not have electronics.....is this method a way of sorting through different walleye structures? ie-if no hits in x time...move on. Or does this method also attract fish so you should stay a little longer??

It is looking like we may not get to Canada this year for Fall Walleyes. We have options in the Hayward area...what lake is the best option for a pseudo Canada walleye trip? Grindstone, Round or the Flowage? Thanks Tom.

The clown colors have been killing it out here on Erie's central basin lately. I run out about twice a week when weather permits right now, and it's mayfly season. So, crawler harnesses with clown blades and bright beads are killing it right now for us.
