If you use cake strips you won’t have to waste any cake to make it flat on top, even the edges come out perfect, you can even diy your own cake strips 🙃

I baked this yesterday and it came out nice but it was a little too heavy. I baked another one previously that came out perfect. And the only difference was that with the batch that came out nice and fluffy, I didn't tap the baking pan on the counter to get rid of the air bubbles. It made a huge difference in the cake texture so just a quick tip: only tap out the air bubbles for heavier cakes, it's not necessary for lighter betty crooker cakes.

Or maybe follow the directions on the box like most people 😂
