Johnny, thank you! I learned a ton making this with you. It's amazing how clear things can get when you talk them out with a friend. You and Iz have been so supportive since I went independent (and before!) and I can't wait to keep making things together. Maybe next time I’ll have you on my channel :)

DRC is a war torn impoverished country. Why is Jonny so surprised to find out that there are a lot of injustices going on there? What else do you expect? 😅😅😅What confuses me even more is his idea that green energy could be the panacea for the world’s problems.

no, no, no. sodium base batteries are the current 'bright future' darling of science and industry. lithium and its helpers likely to be a niche product.
and shame on prc if they are running those mines at the same despicable health and safety standard as congo.

The good beautiful people pretend to care, but actually, they just want to make business. hypocrisy to the max.
EVs don't save the planet for one single reason. The planet don't need to be saved. It is doing absolutely fine. CO2 is no pollutant. The actual concentration is the effect of warming, not the cause.
It's a massive distraction to not having to address the really important issues:
Avoid real pollution, energy waste, destruction, deforestation, corruption, exploitation of people and resources, etc. RESPECT NATURE. respect proportions.
small light weight, short range EV for town use is fine, if you have access to home charging. ... Nobody does it, because there is no money to be made. Tesla & Co go big exclusively for that.

You literally use fossil fuels to power the electric car. Her points make no sense. Clean energy production has gone up like 1% since the 1970s.

All of “your” paternalistic ideas about what Africans should be doing to have ethical mining is a waste of time. Africans will do what they want to do. BTW, the infrastructure that the PRC is building in Africa or South America will be broken down in less than 20 years. They will leave a hellish pollution mess like they have in PRC. OH WELL……

Yup... confirmed... deep state plant. How do I know?... Let's see... super-hot, sweet, caring babe, after seeing all the disturbing footage of the poor children (emotional manipulation) proposes an even more altruistic solution: "let's just get rid of cars (well, at least, most of them, you know, just like the WEF suggests: 'you will own nothing and be happy' )".

Can nobody else connect-the-dots and see through this emotionally manipulative tripe?

An electric vehicle is powered by electricity. Which means there's a high probability your ev is actually powered by fossil fuels. It would be interesting to hear Mr Harris talk about that side of the story.

Great cast and intriguing information, thanks! In regards to the climate change discussion that everyone somewhat seem to agree on is caused by the evolution of humans up to this point in time - when and where does anyone talk about 'people change' since thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes (and emotions) are the precursor to behavior???

Congo does not have 70% of worlds cobalt, it has little more than 50%. It produces 70% as of right now, that's true. But it's a big difference

The cobalt mined by China in Congo is only one source of cobalt for electric car batteries. Did you know that Australia has the second largest reserves of cobalt in the world and doesn't use child labor in any way. The Australian minerals industry is committed to responsible mining through continual improvement of environmental stewardship and social performance and by contributing to sustainable development. So give China the cold shoulder and buy your cobalt from us!

People revolutionized the mode of transportation in 150 years. It was walking and horses until the said period. It is a fast change in a short time. Cars, airplanes, rockets, trains, Submarines, etc. I wonder why? America is the number one consumerists nation in the world. It emits the most carbon dioxide. China is trying to survive the black smog their citizens have to inhale daily. EVs helped them get cleaner air. Believe it or not, I am an American. Americans get paranoid and have to get medicated for being capitalists and policing.

Good video and information. I will say that the EV market is moving away from batteries that use Cobolt. The batteries called "LFP" or "LiFePo4" or LiFeypo4" don't use cobalt or Nickel, but I think they still use Graphite. Ford and Tesla already have these going into their "standard" range vehicles, for the most part. Chevy announced that the Bolt is going to LFP batteries.
I can't wait for LFP to take over because they don't pose even a fraction of the fire hazard and they last for more miles, more cycles. They are an older chemistry than NMC (nickel cobalt), but new improvements have made them competitive.
